MD Management Limited, a division of Scotia Wealth Management, has an exciting opportunity for a talented, enthusiastic, and client-focused Senior Manager, Vendor and Contract Management to join our team.

As a Senior Manager, Vendor and Contract Management, you will be responsible for managing the critical or important contracts within the business/functional area with a goal to ensure negotiated value is realized and risks are mitigated/managed with the supplier/vendor. The role will collaborate with contract owners, Business Line Executives and Corporate Functions to execute supplier/vendor management practices under Contract Management, financial management, performance management, risk management and relationship management, aligned to the core set of activities against third party management policies, standards and procedures.

  • Champion a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
  • Be accountable for the oversight of MD's Vendor Management & center of excellence program ensuring all elements of the program are in place, ensuring strategic goals are aligned with Scotiabank's Third-Party Risk Management framework within the first line. This includes but is not limited to:
  • Ensure systems, policies, procedures and controls are in place and continuously reviewed and updated to ensure ongoing alignment with regulatory changes, Scotiabank's Third-Party Risk Management frameworks and/or any other ongoing changes.
  • Oversee and validate and track SLA service and earn-back requests; validate and resolve any challenges regarding invoice payments
  • Oversee and track engagements approaching expiry and work collectively with business, enterprise vendor managers and sourcing managers to finalize transition plans and manage transition activities
  • Oversee, Monitor, measure, manage and track vendor performance to ensure contract compliance and create BU-based vendor views across contracts
  • Oversee or lead escalated issues/incidents to resolution pertaining to vendor performance, delivery quality and risks
  • Understand the risks and conditions associated with select supplier contract to inform of emerging risks
  • Oversee and/or lead and coordinate supplier control assessments (e.g. SOC review, on-site visits, testing etc.) to manage risk
  • Oversee the team to ensure the set up and onboarding of vendors post contract execution including vendor onboarding is in the platforms, confirming the governance structure, onboarding resources etc. at the contract level
  • Provide clarity on the specific roles and responsibilities of all stakeholders involved in the Supplier performance plan
  • Support Vendor Managers and the business in creating a Business Line view of vendors for on-going engagements where required
  • Chair and lead internal meetings for continuous improvement actions. This includes chairing the Material Vendor Outsource Program meetings to ensure the mitigation, monitoring and management of vendor risks through risk assessments, post contract compliance, and/or escalation concerns, as applicable.
  • Escalate contract compliance and / or risk controls issues, as applicable
  • Execute and/or or implement standardized structure and training modules across the Business Line and where applicable, in partnership with other key stakeholders such as the Enterprise Third Party Management Program Team or Internal Controls
  • Provide oversight and governance and ensure compliance with relevant third-party policies and local regulatory requirements
  • Be accountable for reporting on the effectiveness of the program
  • Responsible for recruiting, developing, and leading a highly motivated and service-oriented team. This includes identifying and implementing dynamic and innovative methods of staff recruitment, development and training, performance evaluation, recognition, compensation, and career progression
  • Day to day leadership and management expertise to Vendor Managers and MD and Scotiabank business stakeholders, acting as both a subject matter expert and escalation point
  • Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Actively pursue effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook, and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.
  • Champion a high-performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates team members by fostering an inclusive work environment, communicating vison/values/business strategy and managing succession and development planning for the team.


The Must Haves:

  • 5-7 + years' experience in Contract Management and supplier performance management preferred
  • Team leadership / people management
  • University degree and postgraduate qualifications, or equivalent combination of education and Supplier management experience
  • Strong financial and business acumen
  • Demonstrated ability to build sustainable, transparent relationships / partnerships
  • Extensive experience managing and coordinating internal and external stakeholder groups for proven service delivery.
  • Demonstrated experience working successfully in an environment involving multiple stakeholders with competing objectives
  • Strong Knowledge of contract terms and conditions and SLAs
  • Project lifecycle management
  • Understanding of the risk appetite for the assigned line of business to aid risk assessment and ongoing monitoring
  • Bilingual is considered an asset

  • Strong impact and influence capabilities
  • Strong foundational understanding of risk quantification and methodologies including regulatory knowledge i.e. OSFI E-13
  • Conflicts and issues resolution and escalation management
  • Understanding and alignment with third party risk management frameworks
  • Experience managing and leading a team including business stakeholders at various levels i.e. Director + and able to effectively work with and influence the business and other control functions
  • Strong strategic influencing skills are necessary to effect change
  • A strategic, innovative and 'out of the box' mindset
  • Strong leadership and coaching skills including presentation skills
  • Ability to use professional judgment to resolve sensitive matters
  • Ability to operate at the strategic and operational level and juggle competing initiatives
  • Experience working in a regulatory environment and talking to external and internal auditors including regulators, as applicable
