As the Senior Strategist within the Regional Initiatives Team, within Regional Planning, you will leaddiscussions and negotiate agreements with regional partners on matters of mutual interest. You will address a broad range of questions, ideas, opportunities, and challenges with the goal of advancing work to make Calgary and the Region better for all citizens. This position would appeal to a relationship focused, results oriented leader with excellent communication and negotiation skills. Strong political and business acumen are a must. Primary duties include:
- Lead and deliver large complex projects and programs across a broad range of participants when the initial requirements is undefined or has ambiguous outcomes.
- Lead interdisciplinary project teams across a broad range of subject matter areas including planning, policy, infrastructure, and shared cost and revenue modeling.
- Success in this role requires, advocacy, problem solving, relationship building and negotiation skills to find shared outcomes for internal and external partners.
- Support the division by monitoring, communicating and problem solving to all sector, organizational, and political risks, opportunities and trends.
- Communicate with all levels of the Corporation, including Council, to establish and maintain connections for information sharing and exchange within and across Departments and Business Units.
Qualifications
- A degree in a related field with at least 8 years of progressively more complex experience in delivering complex relationship-based projects on behalf of The City.
- Strong leadership qualities including the proven ability to lead projects and help team and partners navigate various complex problems with unclear conditions toward desired outcomes.
- Excellent relationship and rapport building skills with a proven track record for understanding and bridging complex needs to define outcomes.
- Outstanding written and verbal communications skills and highly developed reasoning, problem-solving skills.
- Work effectively with all levels of the organization, including Members of Council, external partners and the public.
- Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
