About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Shipping Receiver to join our team. The Shipping Receiver will be responsible for managing the incoming and outgoing shipments, ensuring accuracy in documentation, and collaborating with various departments to maintain an efficient flow of goods.
What You’ll Do
Shipping & Receiving:
- Inspect and check the quality, physical condition, and quantity of all incoming goods against delivery invoices, food specifications and purchase records to ensure that the type, amount, price of items charged and ordered are correct and coincide.
- Communicate accordingly with each department head or their delegate for any shortage or mismatched goods. For any questionable goods seek approval prior to accepting and storing the goods. This is the standard for any goods for every department in the hotel.
- Ensure all deliveries are received and stored at the designated storage areas for each department following the FIFO system. Prioritizing receiving and unloading of temperature sensitive goods. Proper organization including downsizing and labeling.
- Oversee and manage the receiving activities.
- Maintain the highest level of business integrity in dealing with vendors and delivery persons.
- Understand and follow quality standards of the hotel and its departments.
- Ensure all invoices and/or packing slips are collected and delivered to each department on a daily basis before the end of each working day.
- Maintain accurate records of all incoming and outgoing inventory items using a computerized system.
- Ensure that items are properly labeled, dated, and stored in designated areas.
- Monitor inventory levels and reorder supplies as needed to avoid shortages.
- Ensure all company protocols, standards, internal controls, procedures, and safeguards are complied with, as they relate to the Food & Beverage department at all times.
- Assist and initiate returns of any goods. The returns are arranged by the department heads.
- Works efficiently to complete routine tasks in a timely manner, adhering to assigned timelines.
Compliance and Safety:
- Adhere to all safety and sanitation standards while handling and storing inventory items.
- Comply with hotel policies and procedures related to procurement and inventory control.
- Keep storage areas clean, organized, and compliant with safety regulations.
Training and Supervision:- Train and supervise any support staff or assistants in the receiving department.
- Ensure that all team members follow established protocols and maintain a high standard of professionalism.
- Ensures cleanliness and strict sanitization of receiving working areas at all times.
- Build and Contribute to a positive, problem solving and efficient team culture.
- Proper organization including downsizing and labeling.
What You’ll Need
High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certification in logistics is a plus.- Able to lift and move heavy packages up to 20kg.
- Proven experience in a shipping and receiving role.
- Familiarity with inventory management systems and software.
- Ability to operate material handling equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Effective communication skills for collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
- Knowledge of safety procedures and regulations in a warehouse setting.
