Shop Technician - Agricultural Research

The Taber Research Station is located southeast of the town of Taber.

Qualifications:

· Ability to start March 1st, 2024, and work through to end of season

· Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license, proof of clean driving history

required for insurance purposes

· Ability to work independently and as part of a team

· Ability to meet the physical demands of the work (standing for long periods of time,

lifting heavy loads of up to 40lbs)

· Teamwork and communication skills. Commitment to safety protocols

Assets:

· Experience operating conventional farm and small plot research equipment

· Experience/knowledge of loading and trailer equipment

Duties:

· Performing routine maintenance tasks on farm equipment, machinery, and facilities

· Supporting various aspects of farming activities including harvesting

· Operating and maintaining farm machinery, tools, and vehicles

· Assisting with repairs

· Moving, lifting, and organizing materials

· Groundskeeping – maintaining the farm including fence repair and general

cleanliness

· Adhering to safety protocols and maintaining a safe work environment

· Maintaining records

Schedule:

· Monday to Friday, sometimes Saturday

· 40 hr week, 8hr days (half hour for lunch)

· Overtime pay at a rate of time and a half

Job Types: Full-time, Seasonal
Contract length: 7 months

Salary: $19.00-$25.00 per hour
