Purpose
The Site Water Leader is responsible for leading a site in water management-related activities and will serve as the effective leader of the Site Water Team, which facilitates information sharing across functions to improve water-related decision making.
The Site Water Leader will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of water-dedicated personnel, including the collection and delivery of water data and provide planning direction on water impacting issues to other functions, such as water treatment planning, water conveyance planning, waste rock management/planning, geochemistry planning, and water collection to manage and mitigate water risk.
Responsibilities
-He/she is responsible for leading the site's water management committee and ensuringthat it effectively implements strategic initiatives and operational activities related towater management at the site. He/she must ensure that there is effective cooperation,information sharing and collaboration between the various representatives of the sitewater management team.
-He/she develops strategies to mitigate water-related risks and achieve water maturity targets through assessments and cross-functional working.
-He/she acts as water expert to support the whole site.
-He/she maintains water management governance, water-related RACIs and ensures accessibility.
-He/she maintains the Site Water risk register and implements appropriate response plans.
-He/she communicates decisions and implications to functional representatives and site stake holders.
-He/she supports projects to characterize, plan and improve water management in catchment areas.
-He/she organizes frequent monitoring, strategy and planning meetings with the regional water planner to review the water dashboard, water balance and other relevant models. He/she will be the point of contact with the global water strategy team, including supporting the monitoring of critical controls, mitigating risks and developing recommendations.
Responsibilities (Continued)
-He/she audits decisions and execution to ensure the effectiveness of the water management team on site.
-He/she works to improve water management results (e.g. process efficiency, software, monitoring devices, chemical inputs, etc.).
-He/she participates in the development of the annual water management budget, strategy, objectives and targets to improve performance and continuously reduce business risks.
-He/she is responsible for maintaining the site's water balance (quantity and quality) via the Goldsim software.
-He/she supports projects/studies concerning site closure and long-term water planning.
-He/she may be required to lead and implement innovation projects according to budget and plan.
-He/she will be responsible for writing reports and providing information to other stakeholders (e.g. monthly or quarterly reporting obligations, external communications or regulatory requirements).
-He/she will provide technical support for interactions with local authorities and regulatory bodies on water management issues.
-All tasks related to the performance of duties as identified by the supervisor 
Requirements
-Bachelor's degree in science (water engineering, chemical engineering, environmental engineering, hydrogeology, mineral processing, geochemistry, other)
-Post-graduate training, particularly in water management, environmental management or civil engineering, is an asset.  
-Minimum three (3) years' experience in a similar position, ideally in the mining industry.
-Knowledge of gold mining and processing operations, as well as environmental risks and associated management systems.
-Experience interpreting water balance models (including volumes and chemistry) and water modeling software. Previous experience with GoldSim and PHREEQC is considered an asset.
-Technical understanding and experience of hydrology and hydrogeology, including water treatment, groundwater supply, etc. Practical understanding of pumps, piping and fluid mechanics for the design of water treatment systems.
-Knowledge of water chemistry, water treatment and waste management strategies.
Working Conditions

-The work schedule for this position is 14 days on and 14days off, working 12hr days.
-Position may be required to travel to and assist other domestic and international sites.
-Must be willing and able to comply with health and safety standards, company policies and procedures, and Newmont environment policy
-Must be willing and able to work outdoors in all weather conditions, including walking on rough, uneven, and wet terrain
-Must be willing and able to wear personal protective equipment, including helmet, steel-toed shoes, safety goggles, respirators, self-contained breathing apparatus, earplugs, gloves, or any other equipment to perform the task safely
