The Walkerton Clean Water Centre is an agency of the Government of Ontario established to help safeguard drinking water across the province of Ontario. WCWC provides education and support to water system owners, operators, operating authorities, First Nations communities, and the public. WCWC also provides information and advice through the Drinking Water Resource Library and pilot testing services, which help clients address water treatment challenges. We are looking for a Market Research Lead to join our wonderful team at Walkerton Clean Water Centre.
Position Summary

To lead Market Research staff and to design, lead, and conduct research projects related to evaluating current customer needs and discovering new and emerging markets and customer needs to facilitate and influence strategic and operational planning. Research provided by this position will inform strategic growth planning and operational decisions to help the Centre focus on meeting our new and existing customer’s evolving needs.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Market Research projects.
  • Identify and design research projects, develop surveys, and lead interviews and focus groups.
  • Evaluate all risks and establish necessary safeguards, ensuring ethical research practices are followed.
  • Coordinate Market Research through the creation, administration, and distribution of surveys, analysis of data and will lead the preparation of reports to inform strategic and operational planning for the Centre.
  • Analyze customer surveys (e.g., piloting feedback, training feedback, trainer feedback surveys) and provide monthly reports to the Research & Technology Manager, the Training Department Manager, and, on occasion, presentations to the entire Management Team.
  • Create and provide monthly reports.
  • Supervise and act as the lead on Centre Market Research projects.
  • Liaise with and provide technical guidance to both staff and clients.
  • Ensure all analysis and reports are complete and comply with all ethics guidelines and Market Research staff’s training needs are identified and met.
  • Evaluate research staff training and professional development needs.

Skills/Qualifications

  • A minimum Master’s degree in Psychology, Marketing Research, Sociology or a related field is required including advanced courses in qualitative and quantitative methodology and analysis.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat Pro.
  • Experience with software programs that aid with transcription and coding of interviews such as Atlas TI, NVivo and MaxQDA, Excel plug-ins or stand-alone software for higher level statistical analysis and Qualtrics knowledge is required.
  • Certificate in TCPS-2 CORE-2022 for research ethics is required.
  • A valid class G driver’s license (or equivalent) or access to own transportation is required.
  • A minimum of two to three (2-3) years of experience in research and planning, including analyzing raw data and writing papers and reports.
  • Experience in the public sector or with community-based research projects and project management would be an asset.
  • Experience working with ethics research boards is also an asset.
  • Proven ability to sustain a professional demeanor in all aspects of the role.
  • The incumbent requires good organizational skills to effectively prioritize duties and meet deadlines.
  • Experience with qualitative and quantitative methodology including designing, leading, and reporting research projects in multiple market verticals.
  • Experience working in a highly independent position with the proven ability to take initiative. Strong oral presentation skills are required.
  • Excellent English communication skills, written and spoken are required and bilingualism in French would be an asset.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience would be considered.
