The Automotive Finance Team at Scotiabank is experiencing a massive transformation and growth with constantly evolving digital journeys and disruptions within automotive ecosystem and financing technologies. We are seeking a talented and creative Software engineer with proficiency in software development while emphasizing their specialization in UI/UX for Automotive Technologies. It's a comprehensive role that encompasses technical skills and design focus. The role will engineering driven UI developer who possesses a strong knowledge of user interface design principles and is also skilled in UX designing. You will be responsible for developing user interfaces, designing seamless user experiences, and implementing robust backend functionality. Your role will be critical in delivering high-quality web applications that meet user requirements and drive business success.


Is this role right for you?

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Product owners, Fullstack developers, and business stakeholders to gather and analyze user requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
  • Develop intuitive, responsive, and visually appealing user interfaces using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and other front-end frameworks.
  • Collaborate with product owners and business analyst to Create wireframes, prototypes, and interactive mock-ups to effectively communicate design ideas and gather feedback.
  • Implement best practices and modern design principles to create seamless user experiences, considering usability and accessibility standards.
  • Conduct user research, usability testing, and gather feedback to inform iterative design improvements.
  • Ensure the technical feasibility of UI/UX designs and optimize applications for maximum speed and scalability.
  • Troubleshoot and debug technical issues, perform testing, and optimize application performance.
  • Write clean and maintainable code, following coding standards and best practices.
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices in UI development and UX designing.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role?

  • 5-6 years of work experience preferred
  • Bachelor's or higher degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven work experience as a UI developer with a solid understanding of UX designing
  • Expertise in front-end technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and modern UI frameworks like React, Angular, or Vue.js.
  • Proficient in back-end programming languages such as Node.js, Python, or Ruby, and experience with server-side frameworks (e.g., Express, Django, Ruby on Rails).
  • Experience with database systems (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB) and proficiency in writing efficient SQL queries
  • Solid understanding of UX design principles and experience in designing user-centered interfaces.
  • Familiarity with design tools like Adobe Photoshop, Sketch, or Figma.
  • Understanding of user-centered design principles and ability to conduct user research and usability testing.
  • Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) and agile methodologies
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong knowledge of responsive design and the ability to create interfaces that work seamlessly across various devices and screen sizes.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
