StarTech.com is looking for a dynamic and tech-savvy Solutions Engineer to join our growing Customer Success team. In this role, you will play a critical role in engaging with IT Professionals, gaining a comprehensive understanding of their IT infrastructure and unique product needs. Leveraging your technical expertise, you will establish yourself as a trusted advisor, guiding our customers toward optimal connectivity solutions. You will act as the technical expert at customer engagements across Canada and the United States. You will be instrumental in identifying opportunities to deliver incremental value by positioning and selling computer accessories, connectivity peripherals and solutions to customers; in turn driving increased sales with top end customer accounts.

Please note this is a hybrid opportunity for individuals within commuting distance of our head office in London, Ontario (Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday in office each week and Monday/Friday from home) or remote for those outside of commuting distance.

What you will be responsible for:

  • Establish and Develop Relationships with IT Professionals: Engage with IT Professionals at top end customer accounts, prospecting and developing business with high-potential organizations. Cultivate deep relationships with these customers to understand their technology needs and offer tailored solutions to enhance credibility and customer loyalty.
  • Identify Technical Opportunities: Collaborate cross-functionally to analyze purchasing behavior and identify opportunities for enhanced value delivery. Leverage technical expertise to align product offerings with the evolving needs of top customers.
  • Serve as Trusted Advisor to IT Professionals: Consult with defined top accounts, introducing new product categories and supporting technical solutions. Execute Contact Plans and customer development activities. Carry out meetings with target accounts to present technical opportunities, identify areas of value delivery, and develop the organization’s business with StarTech.com. Drive follow-up through engagement tactics including facilitating technology transitions, supporting the product testing/standardization process, and facilitating the customer’s path-to-purchase.
  • Stay Informed of New Product & Technology Developments (Internal & External): Stay current on technology trends, market dynamics, and IT Professional needs. Foster connections, attend events as a technical subject matter expert, and collaborate internally to identify opportunities and relay market insights.

Essential Qualifications and Requirements:

  • 3+ years of experience in Technical and Business Development roles, with a focus on engaging end customers in an IT support or customer-facing role.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (Business, Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology) or equivalent practical experience.
  • Exceptional technical knowledge and an understanding of how technology products work together to solve business problems.
  • Demonstrated understanding of customer technology needs and experience translating them into business growth.
  • Ability to travel for customer engagements and other meetings from time to time.
  • Collaborative, can-do attitude that facilitates cross-functional work among various functions and departments.
  • Effective communication and persuasive presentation skills with internal and external customers.
  • A desire to provide exceptional service to customers, develop deep relationships, and grow business through meaningful interactions with customers.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Microsoft Office, PowerBI and CRM would be an asset.
  • Strong understanding of StarTech.com products and industry positioning.
