Job Summary:
As a full-time Assistant Gas Bar Manager, you will work closely with the Gas Bar Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of our Gas Bar facility. You will be responsible for ensuring efficient operations, excellent customer service, and adherence to safety and compliance standards. Your role will involve managing a team, maintaining inventory levels, monitoring financial performance, and fostering a positive work environment.


Duties & Responsibilities:


  • Assist the Gas Bar Manager in supervising and coordinating Gas Bar operations, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Provide excellent customer service, addressing customer inquiries, resolving complaints, and maintaining a customer-focused environment.
  • Assist in recruiting, training, and supervising Gas Bar staff, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively.
  • Oversee daily cash handling procedures, including opening and closing the register, reconciling sales, and preparing bank deposits.
  • Monitor inventory levels, place orders for stock replenishment, and conduct inventory audits to minimize shortages and shrinkage.
  • Ensure that the Gas Bar facilities are clean, organized, and meet safety standards, including proper handling and storage of hazardous materials.
  • Fill in for the Manager during vacations or absences and act as the 2nd key contact.
  • Assist in analyzing financial performance, preparing reports, and implementing cost-control measures to achieve financial targets.
  • Prepare and maintain staff schedules.
  • Foster a positive work environment by promoting teamwork, providing guidance and support to the team, and addressing employee concerns or conflicts.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certifications in business management or a related field is a plus.
  • Previous experience in a Gas Bar and/or convenience store environment, with demonstrated leadership abilities.
  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to handle customer inquiries, complaints, and resolve issues effectively.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills to prioritize tasks and ensure smooth operations.
  • Basic knowledge of financial management principles, including cash handling and inventory management.
  • Proficient computer skills, including point-of-sale systems, inventory management software, and MS Office Suite.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with team members, customers, and vendors
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, handle multiple tasks simultaneously, and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures related to Gas Bar operations.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required. Ability to act as an “on-call” backup.
  • A philosophy of continuous improvement and a passion for knowledge sharing
  • Preference is given to First Nations applicants; however other qualified candidates will be equally considered based on leadership experience and/or experience working with First Nations.
  • Must be eligible to work in Canada.
  • Must hold a valid Drivers License
