The Senior Financial Analyst is a key role involved in the overall commercial process and will work directly with the Retail team to profitably grow the retail business within the US landscape. This person is a key player within the North American Sales Finance team, supporting and partnering with US Retail Sales, revenue management and related teams to support business decision to drive profitably grow McCain through financial support during customer bids and renewal. The position will help drive value creation with our customers through financial review of pricing and trade. Additionally; the Individual will also provide financial leadership on key customers within the Retail landscape.
The primary responsibility is to bring strong financial and general business acumen and add value with a customer-centric focus. The role includes:
- Thoroughly understanding key customers' operations and how it impacts McCain's current profitability and future growth opportunities;
- Partner with the retail sales team to lead the financial modeling of potential promotional activities, analyze the impact of new business proposals and manage overall margins as it relates to product pricing and promotions.
- Comprehensive Trade Spend management for all customers (accruals, analysis and reporting)
- Remain current on market conditions and market pricing on competing product categories and develop recommendations through various levers like pricing and promotion to changes in business or product category pricing strategy
- Contributing to enhancing internal systems and processes and enabling faster and higher-quality decision-making for Senior Leaders;
- Providing various ad-hoc data extraction, consolidation, and analysis to help the business understand trends, and assess customers and products from a 'Volume-Price-Mix' context;
- 'Stakeholder' and 'Ownership' mentality is a must; you must feel that you are a major stakeholder in the business and 'own' the numbers (alongside your counterparts). High-quality work is expected; you should be proud of the work that you do for the business as you'll be a key player in the team
Please note, this role can either sit in Toronto, ON or Oakbrook, IL.
How You'll Add Value:
- Act as financial business partner to Sales and related teams driving Customer and Product profitability via Sales, Trade Spend, and Cost of Sales Analytics
- Drive competitive advantage for McCain through trade management practices, price/mix, and developing innovative promotional opportunities.
- Manage pricing performance and appropriate analysis for the US Retail space while developing recommendations that optimize McCain's long-term profitability
- Contribute to driving forecast accuracy and proposing actions to mitigate trade-related risks and maximize growth and profit opportunities
- Support financial information reporting to provide timely financial recommendations with accuracy to North America management for business-critical decision-making
- Build strong working relationships with business partners across the organization
- Contributing to enhancing internal systems and processes and enabling faster and higher-quality decision-making for Senior Leaders;
- Work on other assigned priorities and contribute to organizational development of the North American finance organization in support of our North American businesses
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance or related field and successful in the process of CPA or MBA Program
- 3-5 years' experience with finance/ trade and trade fund management; preferably in an Accounting firm or a CPG organization
- Understanding of accounting and finance practices with good business acumen
- Action-oriented with a positive attitude and an accountability-oriented mindset to drive results
- Advanced Microsoft Office Skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Natural collaboration skills and ability to build relationships, manage conflict, and work
- Comfortable with analysis, ability to work under tight deadlines and business pressure
- Strong communication skills and agility in being able to work with different teams, particularly Sales and Marketing, in addition to Finance counterparts and other functions as required
Non-Technical Competencies:
Looking for a candidate which is collaborative in their work approach.
- This role is highly dependent on the ability of the candidate to effectively communicate with Sales and Revenue Management teams; while implementing controls and guardrails around trade spend management.
- The candidate must be able to work effectively with many functions, primarily; Sales, revenue management, commercial finance, marketing and within Finance.
The Finance function is looking for a problem solver who can work with ambiguity
- US Retail is a continually growing business and the candidate must be able to work with agility to move with the business needs and able to effectively problem solve as every month can be different
The Finance function is looking for a team player, and someone willing to 'go the extra mile'.
- Many times there are non-finance requests that come to the Retail Finance team, and this candidate must be willing to accommodate ad hoc requests
