More than fifteen years ago, Hydro One was a leader in adopting Advanced Metering Infrastructure across its diverse and wide-ranging service territory. Once again we are showing leadership in the Industry with one of the first replacements of an existing AMI implementation. The Advanced Meter Infrastructure (AMI) 2.0 Project is multi-year, multi-disciplinary project to install 1.5 million new electricity meters that can act as sensors on the Distribution Grid. This will provide unprecedented visibility that will be used for improved outage detection, fault prediction, EV load prediction and other capabilities benefitting our customers. This project is unique in many ways and provides its team members a rewarding and challenging work environment as well as opportunities to contribute towards its success at every level.
JOB FUNCTION:
Supervise staff and organize responsibilities and assignments to effectively execute accountabilities. Direct staff on problem areas, take necessary corrective action and review and evaluate their performance. Carry out independent projects, and participate in teams engaged in the development and integration of effective business processes, congruent with the needs of the business, and fully leveraging the capabilities of the embedded work management software and tools. Identify, plan, organize and monitor work programs, projects and processes to ensure delivery of service as agreed. Assist in
benchmarking and identify potential best practices to improve assigned programs and processes.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Supervise staff and organize responsibilities and assignments to effectively execute accountabilities. Monitor results and take necessary corrective action. Plan, allocate and organize work activities. Schedule and assign work to staff with instructions, coordinate their activity, direct them on problem areas, review and evaluate their performance.
Interpret and assess organizational performance as it relates to the execution of a work program, paying particular attention to the effectiveness of business processes, and the penetration and successful adaptation of allied software tools and data systems.
Produce or oversee the development of the communication requirements relating to a wide variety of business operations processes, providing advice and direction, making presentations to various audiences associated with the technical and operational processes affected.
Understand, document, and develop integrated business processes and relate them to the information technology platforms which the business relies on to accomplish its work program.
Develop, monitor, evaluate and recommend changes and improvements to ensure efficient and effective completion of work as required in Service Level Agreements, contracts and processes. Assist in process benchmarking and identify potential best practices to improve assigned processes. Identify potential items requiring audit and prepare standards and specifications to audit against, to ensure reasonable compliance related to the delivery of service as agreed.
Compile and review information and estimates provided on distribution/transmission work. Assist in discussions, problem solving and issue resolution regarding negotiation, implementation and ongoing work performance of Service Level Agreements or Contracts. Evaluate the complete package, identify and recommend potential changes to improve the final package including prices and service levels.
Assist in discussions, problem solving and issue resolution. Identify, plan, organize and monitor requirements and processes for activities requiring completion by various work groups, to ensure delivery of service as agreed.
Perform other duties as required.
Education :
Requires a knowledge of the theories and principles relating to business methods, processes, operations, including change management techniques and the computerized applications associated with a modern business environment.
Requires a knowledge of electrical fundamentals, network theory, power systems and apparatus.
Requires a knowledge of statistical and analytical techniques and estimating principles to apply cost control operations related to the preparation, or evaluation of estimates.
Requires a knowledge of English to effectively communicate both orally and in writing to prepare reports standards and specifications and in the interpretation of Service Level Agreements or Contracts.
This knowledge is considered to be normally acquired through the completion of 4 years of University training (Grade XII plus 5 years).
