Job Description
Aecom Burnaby is looking for a motivated and junior structural engineer to join our Water Infrastructure department. You will be working with our team of senior engineers, EIT's, technologists, CAD designers and project managers who focus on delivering high quality and challenging structural design projects within the water and wastewater conveyance and treatment sector.
You will also have the opportunity to work collaboratively with other disciplines such as civil engineers, electrical engineers, and mechanical engineers on larger projects.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Performs specific and limited portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer.
Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures.
Works on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and relatively simple tests.
Proposes approach to solve new problems encountered.
Identifies discrepancies in results.
Provides guidance to entry level engineers.
Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with moderate supervision.
Builds analytic and design skills.
Uses computer software as a tool for solving basic engineering problems.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering
Eligible for registration with APEGBC as an EIT or P. Eng
Preferred Qualifications:
Masters Degree in Structural Engineering is ideal
Familiar with structural design software: SAP and STAAD PRO
Ideally 2+ years of structural design experience working with Canadian codes and design standards.
Experience designing in steel, concrete, wood and masonry
Some experience with industry standard structural analysis software.
Fluent in spoken and written English.
Knowledge of the National Building Code, BC Building Code, Vancouver Building Bylaw
Familiar and able to read structural drawings
Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment
Ability to work as part of a team and individually with limited supervision
Positive attitude
Previous experience in water/wastewater treatment, pumping stations and water conveyance structures would be an asset.
Familiar with ACI 350 Code Requirements for Environmental Engineering Concrete Structures and Commentary
Experience/exposure to Revit, AutoCAD

Additional Information
•Offered rate of compensation in Burnaby will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $60,389.03- - $95,000.
