This job posting represents multiple positions within different ministries and at various locations across Ontario. What can I expect to do in this role?

Work Description:

You may be required to work on some or all of the following tasks:

  • Provide customer service assistance by responding to public and/or internal inquiries
  • Assist with a variety of administrative duties
  • Plan, organize, coordinate and manage daily assigned work

These positions will support different teams on a range of program-related activities including:

Youth Programs

  • Participate in the planning, delivery and evaluation of child and youth summer programs
  • Collect and record feedback from program participants

Livestock Park Operations

  • Assist with general duties and responsibilities of maintaining the Park's operations
  • Assist with programs and activities that relate to the Park's programs
  • Assist with the well-being of all livestock
  • Participate in the development and maintenance of demonstration crops and horticulture program
  • Assist with / participate in educational programming
  • Assist with daily upkeep of the Park's site/grounds and buildings


How do I qualify?

Mandatory

You must meet all eligibility criteria by the first day of employment (contracts begin between May and July):

  • Student Status: You must be enrolled in a secondary or post-secondary institution (currently or for the fall semester) OR you must have graduated within the past six months (for example, if you graduated in December, you can apply for and start a summer student position up until June of the following year).
  • Age: You must be a minimum of 15 years of age. There is no maximum age limit.
  • Residency: You must be a resident of Ontario during the term of employment.
  • Work Status: You must be legally entitled to work in Canada. You are also required to have a valid Social Insurance Number (SIN) upon being hired.

Communication and Interpersonal Skills

  • You apply your written communication skills to prepare and maintain a variety of documents (e.g. reports, document findings, data, presentations, meeting minutes, etc.).
  • You apply your oral communication and customer service skills to respond to phone, email, and in-person inquiries and provide information to internal clients and/or public.
  • You apply your interpersonal skills to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team and participate in meetings.


Technical Skills and Knowledge

  • You apply your experience using computer software, such as word processing (Word), spreadsheets (Excel), databases, geographic information systems, email and Internet to conduct research and prepare a variety of documents.
  • You apply your knowledge and experience by performing research and data compilation including assembling information from hardcopy and digital sources, and performing data entry.


Analytical and Organizational Skills

  • You apply your planning and organizational skills to collect, organize, review and verify information/data through review of files, reports, and other means


Other Requirements

  • You are willing to participate in a two-day orientation and training session including standard St. John First Aid and basic CPR.
