Stump Grinding Crew Leader

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Stump Grinding Lead to join our team. As a Stump Grinding Lead, you will be responsible for overseeing and performing Stump Grinding operations to ensure efficient and high-quality results.

Start Date: On or before April 1, 2024.

Your duties as Stump Grinding Crew Leader will include operating the machine in a safe and efficient manner, maintaining the machine, ensuring a safe work environment for your crew, driving the truck and trailer to and from job sites, completing the job as per the specifications on the work orders, and communicating with the clients on the company’s behalf to ensure that they are happy with the services provided. At times you may also be asked to assist in other areas of the business when it is necessary. After we catch up in mid to late summer, the Stump Grinding Crew typically goes out 2-3 days per week. At that point you will be assisting in the tree nursery or on another crew on the days you are not Stump Grinding.

The job will start at 7 am (Occasionally you may be asked to start earlier if it is required for a specific job or task) and go till at least 4pm, although days may go shorter or longer depending on the circumstances, weather, and season. Expect to go to 5 pm during the spring. You will be expected to work alternating Saturdays, during April-June. One Saturday a month in the summer/fall. Anticipated hours would be an average of 50-55 hours per week during the spring and early summer and 45 hours per week during summer and fall.

You are expected to always wear CSA approved steel toed safety boots and arrive in the morning with clean clothing that is in good repair. We will provide high visibility t-shirts and hooded sweatshirts as well as any additional PPE (sunscreen, safety glasses, hearing protection, hard hat, chainsaw pants etc.) that is necessary for the tasks at hand.

Option to be included in our benefits package. At this time the package includes Life Insurance of $25,000 for you, (with option for you to purchase extra if desired), AD&D of $25,000, Long Term disability (based on salary) and extended health (includes 80% of prescriptions, some coverage for chiropractor, physiotherapy, etc.) and dental. For seasonal employees the health benefits are paused during the winter months, as per our insurers providers policy. The approximate value of the benefits package is an additional $1.50/hr.

Responsibilities:
- Operate Stump Grinding equipment safely and effectively
- Assess job sites and determine the best approach for stump removal
- Perform Stump Grinding tasks in accordance with safety guidelines and industry standards
- Train and supervise a team of Stump Grinding technicians
- Maintain equipment and ensure it is in proper working condition
- Communicate with clients to understand their specific needs and provide exceptional customer service
- Complete necessary paperwork and documentation related to job assignments

Skills:
To be successful in this role, you should possess the following skills:
- Experience in Stump Grinding or related field
- Knowledge of different types of stumps and appropriate removal techniques
- Ability to operate Stump Grinding equipment effectively and safely
- Strong problem-solving skills to assess job sites and determine the best approach for stump removal
- Excellent communication skills to interact with clients and provide exceptional customer service

Salary: $24.00-$28.00 per hour
