Th e City of Port Alberni’s Parks, Recreation & Culture Department is currently accepting applications
from positive, enthusiastic and outgoing candidates to be part of our summer recreation staff team.
Su mmer Leaders will develop and lead a variety of summer recreational programs for children and
yo uth.
Candidates are required to have the following qualifications and experience:
- Completion of 1st year of college or university in a related field
- Experience planning and delivering age-appropriate recreational activities, games and
- Experience working with children and youth in a recreation or child-minding setting
- Experience in art, sport, music, dance, and/or outdoor recreation
- Enjoy working with children and youth
- Ability to work well independently, as part of a team and with minimal supervision
- Current Standard First Aid with CPR-C/AED certification
- Valid BC Class 5 Driver’s License or the ability to get to and from different worksites
The starting rate of pay for the Summer Leader position is $20.78/hour. Successful candidates will be
required to successfully complete a Police Information Check.
The hours of work for this position are expected to be:
- May 28 – June 28: Tuesday – Friday (26 hours per week)
- July 2 – August 30; Monday – Friday (40 hours per week)
