Description
The City of Moose Jaw is seeking an individual to serve as its Summer Program Coordinator in the Parks & Recreation Department at Yara Centre. Reporting to the Recreation Program Supervisor, the Summer Program Coordinator is responsible for:
- Assist in the administration of summer recreation and community programs
- Plan, organize, schedule and evaluate summer recreation activities based on the Principles of Healthy Childhood Development
- Supervise and schedule summer staff
- Assist in the development, co-ordination and delivery of staff training, ensuring all program staff properly understand and apply the established rules of the programs
- Co-ordinate ongoing program registration and communication with the Department
- Address inquiries from parents, participants and the general public, investigate incidents, complaints and problems to ensure proper follow-up actions
- Ensure timesheets, reports and records on staff and activities are completed and in an accurate and timely manner
- Ensure all patrons adhere to the rules of the facility and intimate appropriate actions as required
- Participate and lead inservice training as directed
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary education in Early Childhood, Education, Recreation/Kinesiology or other related program
- Standard First Aid and CPR C
- High Five Principle of Healthy Child Development
- Ability to physically and mentally perform duties required in an emergency situation
- 1 year experience in recreation programming and the ability to effective supervise, organize and direct the activities of employees and multiple locations;
- Valid Class 5 Drivers License
- Experience with Windows based systems and various Microsoft Office
- Demonstrate the ability to effectively supervise and direct employees
- Ability to deal courteously and tactfully with the public
