SUMMER STUDENT EMPLOYMENT - TRAIN OPERATOR
Location: Riverview Park & Zoo
Hours: 32 - 40 hours per week on a shift rotation. Position works both 8 hour and 12 hour shifts and includes work on weekends and holidays.
Wage: $17.75 per hour.
Dates: May 6th 2024 - Labour Day
Job Purpose:
The Train Operator position involves ticket sales, operation of the miniature train and public speaking. This position also provides occasional support in the park with maintenance and horticulture duties.
Major Accountabilities:
- Operation of Riverview Park & Zoo Miniature train
- Delivering presentations to the public regarding the Riverview Park & Zoo
- Ticket sales
- Park and horticulture duties as required.
Qualifications:
Must be enrolled in a Post Secondary Program and returning to full time studies in Fall 2024.
Experience:
Previous public speaking experience.
Customer and cash handling experience.
Skills:
- Knowledge of the Riverview Park & Zoo
- Experience in gardening and weed removal
- Excellent working knowledge of MS Office applications
- Able to meet the physical demands of the position
- Must be self motivated and require limited supervision
- G driver's license is required
- Must be willing to work in an environment that requires customer interaction
- Demonstrated excellent safety record and attitude
- First Aid/CPR considered an asset
