Scope of work:
Innu Inuit Redpath Limited Partnership (IIR) will be the primary contractor on an underground mine project located on the east coast of Labrador, approximately 350 km north of Goose Bay. Future mining from the two separate underground deposits will extend the life of this operation for at least another decade. Both deposits contain Nickel and Copper and at peak production, 2.54 million tons will be mined annually.
The scope of work includes installations of UG Wash Bay, Fuel/Lube Bay, Maintenance Bays, Doors/Bulkheads, Sumps, Pump Stations, Refuge Stations, Paste/Backfill piping installations and an Ore Handling System including a Rock Breaker, Grizzly, Bin Discharge and Conveyor System
Job Summary:
Under the supervision of the Shift Supervisor, the primary role of the Surface Equipment Operator is to provide general labour support to any and all mine service requirements. Also to operate heavy equipment in a safe and appropriate manner. Heavy equipment may include trucks, front-end loaders, dozers, graders, compactors, snow blowers and other pieces of equipment.

- Maintain order around the laydown area
- Snow removal
- Assist to load and unload construction materials, and move materials to work areas
- Load and unload or transport heavy gear with front loader manual handling material (up to 40lbs)
- Remove rubble and other debris at construction sites
- Coordinate with underground development, mechanical and electrical team to fulfill their daily requirements
- Labor work including manual snow removal (shoveling)
- Managing (tool crib)
- Driving bus for crew between shifts
- Rotational from days shift and Night shift
- Be capable of working outdoors in harsh northern climate.

- Responsible to ensure proper use and maintenance of personal protective equipment
- Work in accordance with local legislation
- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
- Heavy Equipment Operator Journeyperson Certificate (preferred)
- Basic literacy (read, write, basic math) required
- Minimum 2 years of experience in operating surface mobile equipment
- Ability to multi-task and work effectively
- Ability to work efficiently as part of a team as well as independently
- Knowledge of truck and equipment safety
- Knowledge of operation of front-end loaders, Telehandler, dozers, graders, compactors, snow blowers and other pieces of heavy equipment
- Knowledge of equipment maintenance and storage
- Knowledge of road construction and maintenance techniques
- Knowledge of the record-keeping system
- Knowledge of equipment cleaning standards and procedures
- Valid provincial driver license with class 4 endorsement (requirement)
