THE OPPORTUNITY
Reporting to the Manager of Enterprise Data Centre Services, the Team Lead, Data Centre Services will play a critical role in the day-to-day operations ensuring the University Enterprise Data Centres and Infrastructure are running effectively and efficiently. Duties will include:
- Oversight of patching both Microsoft Windows and Linux physical and virtual servers, including development of plans to review and maintain appropriate patch levels for all systems
- Representing DCS on applicable OCIO projects
- Developing reports for Senior Management regarding ITS infrastructure health, status and capacity
- Developing process documentation
- Working with staff to resolve after hour issues
- Tracking and reporting on required software and hardware upgrades
- Monitoring and reporting on storage, backups, computer and environmental capacities
- Working with staff (both internal and external) to ensure system OS's are maintained at an appropriate level
- Managing resource availability for both operational and project work
- Overseeing the management and reporting on backup and archiving services
- Serving as main point of contact with Facilities Management around the environment of the Universities Enterprise Data Centre (cooling, UPS and electrical)
- Performing other related duties as required
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
Experience (5-8 years) in systems administration of Linux and Windows in an enterprise Data Centre including management experience (minimum 3 years) overseeing a team in an enterprise IT environment; graduation from a four-year college or university with major course work in Computer Science; or any equivalent combination of experience and training. Experience with VMware, RHEL & Red Hat Satellite, Microsoft Windows Server, and identity management technologies (i.e. Microsoft FIM/MIM, LDAP, Active Directory) are assets. The ideal candidate must possess excellent analytical, problem solving, time management, effective communication (written, verbal, and listening) and relationship building skills.
SALARY $78,457 - $92,558 per annum (Management and Professional)
