Choices for Youth Inc. (CFY) is a professional service, youth-focused, non-profit, charitable organization that creates spaces and conversations, and operates programs and social enterprises to help vulnerable youth secure stable housing, employment, and education while improving health and family stability. With a focus on prevention, intervention, and support, we help youth and young families break cycles of poverty and homelessness and transition to healthy, stable, and independent lives. Our RallyForward Program is seeking to hire 1 full-time permanent Team Lead position.
POSITION SUMMARY
This program is based on the Housing First philosophy and is one of four housing options offered by Choices for Youth. With sixteen units spread over six houses in the downtown St. John’s area, combined with community partners and private landlords, this program provides supportive housing options, focusing on eviction prevention and intensive case management for young people within our community.
This individual will report to the Program Coordinator and together, they will work together ensuring effective program delivery. Complete assessments and provide goal-oriented inventions to clients.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide advocacy, accompaniment, and referral services to youth.
- Provide supervision and guidance to staff team, students, and volunteers.
- Ensure that the services provided reflect the needs of CFY’s youth.
- Ensure documentation of relevant client information and that documentation is in accordance with CFY’s policy on the security and maintenance of client information.
- Provide intensive case management to vulnerable/at-risk youth.
- Provide timely response and support to youth and/or their families experiencing crisis, on-going support and follow-up.
- The ability to build trusting, positive relationships with youth and their families.
- Knowledge of adolescent development and parenting, and crisis intervention
- Nurture and contribute to the unique culture of the organization.
- Commit to helping CFY achieve the goals of its strategic plan.
- Help foster a social justice approach among employees.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor of Social Work or equivalent degree in the social sciences, consideration also given to those with a diploma
- Minimum of 3 years working with at-risk youth
- Extensive knowledge of the nonprofit sector and youth homelessness issues
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and facilitation skills are essential.
- Supervisory experience an asset
- Current Standard First Aid/CPR and ASIST training
- Satisfactory Criminal Record Check & Vulnerable Sector Check
- Active Drivers Licence and access to a vehicle
WORK HOURS
The position will work 35 hours per week and flexibility in work hours will be required to accommodate youth and program needs and to accommodate higher work volumes and organizational requirements.
COMPENSATION
The salary for this position is $48,976.20 - $54,418.00 annually. Choices for Youth offers a competitive compensation package, including a health and dental program, employer-matched RRSP and four weeks’ vacation to qualifying employees.
