The Team Leader is responsible for leading the people and managing the processes and equipment associated with the Warehouse, Shipping, and Customer Service of the Collingwood Facility, drive continuous learning through training and process improvements, and promoting a safe and efficient work environment.
Primary Duties:
· Adherence to the Company Standards of Business Conduct and its Values and Principles.
· Develop and maintain departmental safety rules and safe work practices ensuring that each Team Member is working in a safe environment.
· Take a leadership role in promoting product quality, employee development and cost reduction initiatives.
· Work with transportation partners to develop procedures to ensure claim free, on time delivery of product to customers.
· Responsible for the maintenance program for plantwide fork trucks.
· Leader of the fork truck training program.
· Monitor daily shipment schedule to make sure we have the capacity to provide on time delivery.
· Maintain and update shipping blocking and bracing manuals ensuring that we deliver product to the customer claim free.
· Manage the warehouse storage areas ensuring that we have the capacity to produce and stock the proper mix of products in the proper environment.
· Manage departmental expenses to meet department budgets. Work with department employees to create cost reduction / avoidance projects.
· Review and monitor departmental equipment and supplies to make sure that they are available and in proper working order.
· Maintain an open line of communication with all manufacturing departments. Work with the Production Scheduler for customer shipment and delivery requirements.
· Develop lines of communication with production scheduling enabling us to develop warehousing plans that will meet product mix requirements for warehousing.
· Work with departmental hourly Team Members to improve work procedures and enhance productivity.
· Work with other "sister" plants on common transportation, warehousing and case closure issues.
· Work with Transportation "partners" to maintain and enhance the claim free on time delivery of product to our customers.
· Leader of packaging maintenance / modifications / inventory for the facility, with the support from the central team as needed.
· Supervise the materials production area, trucks scheduling, logistics / customer service and inventory control functions, ensuring that materials and services are procured in a timely manner at the lowest possible prices without impacting quality, performance, or customer service.
· Manage the flow of raw packaging materials and supplies coming into the facility and the processes and systems to efficiently manage the material flow.
· Establish and maintain 5S / Housekeeping system. Work with supervisors and hourly employees to ensure plant housekeeping meets or exceed standards.
· Implement Kaizen projects and ensure to promote these standards to the salaried employees.
· Ensure good implementation of SAP for materials department, regarding shipments documents, shipping schedules, materials warehouse, inventory, customer service.
· Other Duties as assigned.
Qualifications Required:
· Bachelor’s degree
· 3-5 years Supervisory experience
· Computer and software proficiency – including strong knowledge of MS Office (Access, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
· Ability to work in teams, multi-task, and take leadership responsibility on projects
· Demonstrated ability in solving problems related to manufacturing processes
· Demonstrated ability to prioritize and organize objectives and targets to meet deadlines.
Qualifications Desired:
· Six sigma certification (green belt)
· Previous glass experience
· Automotive / TS16949 experience
· SAP experience
· Advanced MS Excel experience
