Facilities Decommissioning and Environmental Remediation (FD/ER) is responsible for the execution of all activities associated with the Care and Maintenance and Decommissioning of facilities and remediation of lands that have been transferred to FD/ER at CRL.

The Tool Crib Operator provides the appropriate, clean and functioning tools and materials to tradespeople to ensure that their work is done in a safe and timely manner; responsible for the safe keeping, inventory and functionality of tools valued at over one million dollars.

What will you be doing!

  • Receive tool requests from project teams, process paperwork and issues the requisitioned tools to customers in a timely manner.
  • Process orders for stock items to ensure that stock levels are maintained.
  • Inventory and inspect equipment to ensure safety and functionality in compliance with CNSC regulations.
  • Verify the level of contaminants of all tools when they are returned and advises Radiation Protection personnel if the tool is over the limit to ensure compliance with CNSC regulations.
  • Calibrate torque wrench and record value and date to ensure compliance with CNSC regulations.
  • Control the inventory and safe storage of flammables such as oils, greases and paints to ensure a safe work environment and availability of products when required.
  • Responsible for fire load reduction of the building to ensure there are no fire hazards for a safe working environment.
  • Act as the main point of contact for the unit; answers calls, takes messages, and distributes messages accordingly to ensure that all calls have accurate information for the eventual follow-up.
  • Maintain good housekeeping practices of all work areas, tools and equipment, adhering to provincial, federal, and CNL regulations in order to provide a safe and efficient working environment. Attend monthly safety meetings and immediately report any safety concerns and/or infractions. Apply CNL’s Event Free Tools procedure throughout the execution of assigned work and model this behaviour and knowledge to others.

What we are looking for:

  • Someone who has the knowledge, skills and ability to:
    • Knowledge in fall arrest and WHMIS.

    • Knowledge of the operation of the tools under the incumbent’s responsibility.

    • Good communication skills.

    • Knowledge of Microsoft Office to create lists for inventory, send/receive emails and internet research.

    • Ability to operate a Lift Truck.

  • Education:
    • Secondary school graduation diploma and twelve (12) months related experience.

  • Security clearance eligibility required:
    • Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom.
