Role:
To provide safe, reliable and cost-efficient service/preventive maintenance, inspections and repairs to trailers.
Role Responsibilities:
- Perform required inspections and preventive maintenance on trailers.
- Perform annual safety inspections
- Prepare sold trailers prior to delivery (PDI)
- Install snow plow equipment
- Install parts/accessories on trailers
- Install Trailer Hitches
- Diagnose cause of any malfunction and perform repairs to manufacturer specifications including but not limited to brake systems and mechanical and electrical systems.
- Follow procedures including documenting all work performed on work orders.
- Learn and develop efficiency in CDK
- Proficient in electrical meter testing
- Is willing to work safely with minimal environmental impact and understands the importance of reporting all hazards, incidents, and environmental spills immediately to their Supervisor.
- Understands that they play an integral role in their own safety and that of their colleagues and is willing to speak out when hazards are present.
- Follow standard work order process and procedures, ensuring detailed, accurate and timely records
- Build a strong and supportive team network with co-workers, managers and customers
- Participate in a learning environment, working with apprentices on a regular basis
- Maintain a good quality inventory of personal hand tools
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment
- Other various duties as required
Qualifications/Skills/Job Requirements:
- Completion of/Enrolled in 310J/310T/310S Trailer technical training and certification through Provincially recognized apprenticeship program required
- Hold a current 310J/310T/310S Trailer Technician Licence (or working toward)
- High school diploma or GED required
- Current and valid driver’s license.
- Technicians must own and provide all tools (diagnostic equipment and major tools provided by dealer) necessary to perform all maintenance inspections, repair and diagnostics.
- Basic computer skills and knowledge
- Expert knowledge of all MTO regulations
- Moderate knowledge of Health and Safety regulations
- Basic knowledge of environmental regulations
We are looking for:
- 310J or 310T Licensed Technician (or working towards)
- G class license
- Minimum 1-2 years of related work experience
- A cooperative team player attitude with a positive work ethic
- Experience operating hand and air tools,
- Ability to lift heavy parts (i.e. brake drums)
- Knowledge of transportation industry and regulations
- Good written and communication skills
- Experience with welding, is an asset
- Must have own transportation and tools
