Chief Atahm School: Vice-Principal Chief Atahm School is seeking a full time Vice-Principal for the 2023-2024 school year. The successful candidate will need a background in distributive leadership that allows them to collaborate with a staff of experienced teachers to promote the overall goals and values of the school. The Vice-principal will be part of a school management team that plans and implements an educational program based on the school’s principles.We are seeking an individual with experience in supervising teachers and support staff, implementing instructional programs, including special needs, and curriculum and educational planning. The Vice-Principal will be expected to foster parental engagement and promote Secwepemc cultural programs. The Vice-Principal will work alongside the Principal to manage financial administration, building maintenance and student transportation.Adams Lake Indian Band is home to Chief Atahm School, a Secwepemctsin immersion school that was founded in 1991. The school is located near Chase and 57 km east of Kamloops, B.C.. The Nursery/ Kindergarten and grades 1-4 are taught in Secwepemctsin. The grades 5 to 10 combine English and Secwepemc history, language and culture.“The Chief Atahm School is grounded in the belief that knowledge of the language; traditional practices and beliefs of the Secwepemc will help develop a strong and healthy community. “This belief is supported by, integrating traditional practices across all grades, throughout the school year.
