Unified Alloys is one of the largest suppliers of specialty steel, alloy piping and instrumentation products in Canada. We currently have a WAREHOUSE MANAGER position available in our Dorval operation.
General Responsibilities:
The Warehouse Manager position is a boots-on-the floor position within the Warehouse Department. The Warehouse Manager provides leadership and oversees operation of warehouse operation activities (receipt, storage, retrieval, dispatch, and detailed documentation) in a safe, secure, efficient, and cost-effective manner that complies with company policies, procedures and Occupational Health and Safety Legislation.
Warehouse Manager Overview:
- Accountable for daily warehouse operations within the general framework laid down by senior management.
- Lead by example and continue to build the current warehouse team through effective coaching to ensure we meet or exceed safety, quality, and productivity objectives.
- Manage direct reports including annual performance evaluations, daily monitoring of activities and delegation, absence tracking, training identification and assignment, conflict resolution, hiring and disciplinary actions.
- Conduct daily team meetings to brief team on safety, workload priorities, previous day successes and challenges.
- Monitor and ensure effective workflows utilizing best practice warehouse techniques, to ensure safety and loss prevention criteria meet or exceed legislated / governed standards and to prevent injuries and protect company assets.
- Enter, transcribe, record, store or maintain information either written or electronic. Assist in producing regular reports and providing statistical/informational data.
- Work with the QHSE Department in reviewing customer feedback, identification, and implementation of corrective actions.
- Minimize the loss of stock and customer owned property through the effective use of inventory management, including daily inventory cycle counts, bin locations and risk analysis.
- Maintain and upkeep equipment and tools and conduct job hazard analyses as per company policy/procedures.
- Actively participate in discussions with other Warehouse Managers across Canada to facilitate development and/or improvements to rules, practices, procedures, and standards.
- Assist in planning and organizing the warehouse and utilization of 3PL storage for maximum use and efficiency.
Minimum Requirements:
- Strong written and verbal bilingual skills (French & English) is required.
- Strong working knowledge of all warehouse procedures and techniques including packaging, sorting, stacking, product placement/picking, loading/unloading trucks, logistics, etc.
- Effective people management skills with the ability to build a rapport with various personality types using diplomacy and tact.
- Working knowledge of pipe, fittings, flanges, and valves would be a strong asset.
- Exceptional problem-solving and analytical abilities in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective listening, communication (verbal and written), negotiation and phone skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and adapt to changing priorities.
- Demonstrated competency in hiring, developing/training, and evaluating employees.
- High level of integrity, confidentially, and accountability.
- Strong computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including warehousing and customer relationship management software.
- Willingness to roll up your sleeves, be on your feet for extended periods and work alongside warehouse staff daily, lifting heavy items (to prescribed maximum), and working extended hours as required.
