Role Summary:
General Motors Corporation is committed to protecting human health and the environment and driving continuous improvement. Join our environmental team to gain experience in support of maintaining compliance, implementing best-practices, work standardization, and training across a multitude of GM non-manufacturing sites including technical research and design, administration, parts distribution, and training facilities. The position is located primarily at the GM Canadian Technical Centre in Oshawa, with visits to Markham and Woodstock several times a month, and periodic travel to other GM sites across Canada.
On top of the work outlined above, you will work on sustainability and community development work at GM non-manufacturing sites as well.

Key Responsibilities:
Support environmental compliance related to operations at each of GM Canada’s non-manufacturing sites including storm water management, air emissions, spill prevention, and waste management/recycling programs
Support a variety of Facility and Environmental initiatives at non-manufacturing sites
Plan and lead employee engagement campaigns at GM Canada’s non-manufacturing sites (Earth Week, Waste Reduction Week, World Environment Day, etc)
Lead sustainability initiatives at GM Canada’s non-manufacturing sites related to GM’s 2023/24 Manufacturing Commitments
Qualifications:
Pursuit of a Bachelor's (3rd or 4th year) degree with Co-Op in one of the following areas: Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Civil Engineering
Enrolled in a qualifying Ontario co‑operative education, or internship program
Able to work fulltime, 40 hours per week in Canada and 16-month term (4 consecutive semesters) starting May 2023
Have a valid Full Class G Ontario Driver’s Licence, or equivalent Canadian out-of-province licence
Have the ability to travel to various GM Canadian facilities
Successful candidates will be required to attest to their vaccination status (or indicating that they do not wish to disclose), and any job offer will be conditional on the candidate providing that attestation
Preferred Qualifications:
Past experience in an industrial and/or manufacturing environment
Knowledge and understanding of ISO 14001 standard and environmental legislation
Bilingual, with proficiency in French language

Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to distill complex subjects to a wider audience

Fundamental digital literacy including understanding of MS Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint
