Job Title: Bartender
Department: Community Services
Reports To: Theatre Operations Coordinator
Directly Supervises: None.
Status: Casual
Hours per Week: Based on scheduled events.
Salary: $17.58 - $19.39

Position Summary
This position assists with bar and concession operations, including set up, tear
down, inventory control and provides friendly service to customers serving non-
alcoholic and alcoholic beverages during events and functions held at the Meaford
Hall Arts & Cultural Centre.
Role Specific Duties and Responsibilities
1. Assist in preparation and clean-up of bar for events and functions.
2. Serve non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages to customers.
3. Assist with inventory procedures, ensuring sufficient stock.
4. Assist with furniture and hospitality setup and tear downs for events in all
areas of the facility and ensure the space is safe and clean for visitors and
guests.
5. Follow appropriate money handling processes, ensuring accuracy and
security.
General Duties and Accountabilities (All Municipal Roles)
1. Provides and maintains a high degree of confidentiality and security of
information at all times.
2. Perform other duties as assigned in accordance with department and
corporate objectives.
3. Work in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, and other
applicable legislation, department policies/procedures/practices, operational
guidelines, and perform safe work practices.
Required Certifications and/or Health and Safety Requirements
1. Possess or willing to obtain Smart Serve certification prior to employment.
Education, Skills and Experience
1. Experience as a bartender is considered an asset.
2. Ability and experience in cash handling and POS systems.
3. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
4. Excellent communication (oral and interpersonal), organizational, public
relations, customer service and time management skills.
5. Ability to lift up to approximately 50 lbs; i.e.: cases of liquor, tables and
chairs.
6. Ability to maintain confidentiality, strong listening skills to capture relevant
information and be tactful in dealing with the public.
7. Ability to work weekends and evenings.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
- Physical demand requires considerable standing and walking and some
arena/community centre environment with exposure to criticism from the
public.
