Activities Assistant/Aide - Full Time

Alavida Lifestyles is looking for a Full TimeActivities Assistant/Aidefor our retirement residence located in Nepean - Ottawa, ON. They will assist in the planning and implementation of recreational programs for Residents under the direction of the Recreation Manager.

Must be available to work occasional weekends.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Organize supplies and equipment as needed
• Set up program area as needed
• Keep attendance and document Resident participation in activities
• Encourage Residents to attend programs and assists them to and from programs
• Work closely with the Recreation Manager and other staff on the floor to provide relevant memory care programming to residents with dementia
• Performs other duties as requested

QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience working with elderly population and with individuals with dementia or Alzheimer’s
• Highly organized and able to work independently
• Education in leisure services or related field considered an asset
• Must have a passion for working with seniors

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: $16.64-$18.15 per hour

• 8 hour shift
• Monday to Friday
• Weekends as needed

Experience:

• Retirement home/Long term care: 2 years (preferred)
• Running activity programs: 2 years (preferred)
