About Our Opportunity


Wood Street Campus is a cornerstone in providing specialized treatment services for children in the care of the Minister of Community Services. We operate 24 hours a day, seven (7) days a week, and are passionate about supporting our youth and enhancing their development into successful young people in the community. We’re hiring a Clerk to provide seamless Administrative Support and a range of clerical functions for the Campus. You’ll work in an engaged and rewarding environment where you have a direct, positive, and long-lasting impact on the lives of many children. When you join our team, you’ll become a member of an Interdisciplinary Team where we all work together to provide diagnostic, assessment, and treatment services, and programming for children in care.

Primary Accountabilities


Work is performed in a fast paced, highly sensitive, confidential environment. This is a perfect opportunity for you if you are attentive to detail, highly meticulous and proficient with Microsoft Suite. As the Clerk, you are a critical support in helping our office run smoothly and a few of your key responsibilities will include:

  • Obtaining quotes for and purchasing goods and services required by the program including specific items for children and youth;
  • Processing and verifying balances and payments related to vendors for program areas;
  • Analyzing invoices and maintaining an accurate filing system for all vendor billing;
  • Maintaining the office petty cash fund;
  • Entering employee work hours in SAP;
  • Assisting Unit Supervisors with work schedules for Youth Workers;
  • Preparing various correspondence; requisition of cheques; reviewing, sorting and distributing mail;
  • Maintaining accurate data and statics, along with preparing statistics and reports from SAP for the Program Managers review; and
  • Responding to inquiries from the public, agencies, and departments.

Qualifications and Experience


You have a minimum of four (4) years of related experience in an office administration and coordination environment.


You have good client service skills and effective organizational and communication skills. You must be organized and detail-oriented. Other key qualities of yours include:

  • Multi-tasking and the ability to work with minimal supervision;
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and challenging environment;
  • Sound judgment around confidential, sensitive issues requiring a high degree of tact and diplomacy; and
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Assets include a familiarity with SAP, integrated case management systems (ICM) and a general working knowledge of services offered by the Department and other community agencies.


We will assess the above qualifications and competencies using one or more of the following tools: written examination, standardized tests, oral presentations, interview(s), and reference checks.

Equivalency

  • A related two (2) year diploma and two (2) years of experience
  • A related bachelor's degree

Working Conditions


You will work in a treatment facility that operates 24 hours a day, seven (7) days a week. You will have direct contact with young people and their families, facility, and other department staff, as well as allied regional service providers to carry out required clerical practices and procedures effectively.


Components of the Wood Street Campus may be secured. This role requires the completion of repetitive tasks on a regular basis; good hand dexterity for continual phone and computer use is beneficial; and a high level of visual and mental concentration.

    Pay Grade: CL 18

    Salary Range: $1,675.62 - $1,874.80 Bi-Weekly
