Job Description: The incumbent assists the Manger in the development, direction and maintenance of the payroll and benefits departments and systems. The incumbent will relieve the duties of the Payroll and Benefits Manager in their absence, as required. The incumbent provides payroll, benefits, reporting/consulting/analysis support to the Manager. Activities in this area include: data management and analysis, internal controls, preparing ad hoc reports, project assistance and various monthly tasks as assigned. The Analyst reports directly to the Manager of Payroll and Benefits.
Required Qualifications
Business Diploma from a recognized Post Secondary Institution
Kaizen Basics
Payroll Compliance Practitioner certification from the CPA or an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
Valid Class 5 Driver's license
Willing to complete additional training as required
Experience
Minimum of five (5) years direct payroll and benefits experience. Minimum of two (2) years direct accounting experience is preferred. Experience with Gateway Online, iHRIS and Workforce ESP preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
A demonstrated drive to actively understand, engage in and implement changes that improve processes, practices and outcomes
A good understanding of the tools and techniques of analytical research, financial analysis and/or business case analysis in a corporate environment
A knowledge of Human Resources programs and systems
A proven ability to tactfully deal with all levels of staff, union representatives and external contacts during difficult or delicate situations
