Bakery Assistant

Principle responsibilities and tasks:

• As a baker for The Veggie Shack you will be hand rolling bagels, making pies, cookies, and tarts.
• Throughout the summer you will also be responsible for cutting produce for canning.
• Working toward delivering a great-tasting product to our guests, as well as working independently to ensure that all production and cleanliness goals are met.
• Using your time management and attention to detail to keep all products Always Fresh and ready to deliver to our guests
• Learning about new products and creating them to meet the required standards
• Able to follow instructions, quality standards and recipes
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs
• Keeping area clean and sanitized, dishes and utensils washed throughout shift
• Able to stand for long periods of time
• Baking in a commercial kitchen experience is preferred

Ideal candidate:

• physical fitness, including the ability to lift 50lbs, work with heavy bags of flour and sugar, and flexibility to stand for long periods of time
• flexibility to work long days, weekdays, and weekends.
• ability to maintain consistent workflow in a bakery setting, kitchen may get hot while working.
• possess a good work ethic, positive attitude, and is willing to learn
• reliable transportation to and from work each day.
• experience in a kitchen/bakery would be an asset.

Shifts would usually be 8-9 hours with casual breaks. Hourly pay is $18-$20 depending on experience and we are looking to hire as many as 2 people 25-40 hours per week.
