The Bilingual Greenhouse Team Leader (Night Shift) will work closely with the Planning Department, Account Managers, Growing Team, and fellow Team Leaders to plan, schedule and ensure the execution of required tasks according to the plant lifecycle.
Job Duties
- Supervising and working alongside groups of greenhouse workers, including but not limited to labour planning, enforcement of policies, minor discipline, the delegation of tasks, and conflict resolution.
- Delegate and organize tasks for Greenhouse Team members.
- Assist with creating a daily “to-do” list and share schedules with workers.
- Ensure attention to detail and quality assurance.
- Ensure biosecurity protocols are followed, and machinery is properly cleaned and disinfected after each use.
- Monitor and record Greenhouse Team member attendance and adherence to other Roelands Plant Farms policies (cell phone, smoking, grafting, etc.)
- Provide training on ADP to team members when required.
- Train Greenhouse Team members on all greenhouse tasks or provide a trained mentor to do so.
- Display commitment to team members' health and safety.
- Provide Greenhouse Team members with clear instructions daily.
- Arrive early to set up work areas and organize daily labour at least 15 minutes before the beginning of the worker shift.
- Must communicate with the HR department and submit a written report regarding employee misdemeanours.
- When required, sort contract workers to the assigned tasks and train them on their tasks.
- Be a point of contact for moving workers from task to task as required.
- Organize work to meet deadlines.
- When required, calculate and post Wet Bulb Globe recordings.
- Verify dates and times with account managers to ensure tasks are completed on time.
- Participate in crop walks when requested to do so.
- Other duties as required.
Requirements
- Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills in both English and Spanish
- Work schedule:
- Must be available to work weekends and holidays. When working weekends, will have two days off between Monday-Thursday.
- Proven ability to work effectively and cooperatively with all personnel and outside agencies.
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities.
- Able to analyze and assess training and development needs.
- Effective communication skills with individuals at all levels of the organization.
- Conflict resolution and people management skills.
- Politically and culturally sensitive.
- Computer literacy, including effective working skills in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and e-mail required.
- Excellent time management skills.
