Job Description: We are seeking an independent, talented and enthusiastic cook to join our team at The CAPE for the Summer of 2024. The Breakfast Cook will be responsible for preparing and cooking delicious buffet style meals for our overnight Wedding Guests (up to 10 Guests Saturdays and Sundays).
As well, during the week, we offer a Breakfast in Bed style continental breakfast to overnight accommodation guests. This candidate will also be responsible for making sandwich and snack platters for Wedding Parties who are getting ready at The CAPE. We are looking for a student who is creative, not afraid to work on their own and who can infuse their own style into the menu items.
Job Requirements: Menu Planning
- Collaborat management to plan weekend menus that reflect The CAPE's style and meet guest
expectations.
- Consider dietary restrictions and preferences when creating menu options.
Food Preparation:
- Prepare and cook meals in accordance with established recipes and presentation standards.
- Ensure that all ingredients are fresh and of high quality.
- Assist in ordering from vendors, local farms, etc.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area & kitchen
Cooking:
- Execute cooking tasks efficiently during peak breakfast and brunch hours.
- Monitor food temperatures and cooking times to ensure food safety.
- Pay attention to detail to achieve the desired taste and presentation.
Collaboration:
- Work closely with venue staff and outside catering companies to ensure smooth operation in the
kitchen.
- Be flexible and able to adapt to changes in the menu or special requests from guests.
- Handle last-minute orders with efficiency and attention to detail.
- Work with bartenders to create simple syrups, specialty bar garnish and tinctures
Cleanliness and Safety
- Adhere to proper food handling and safety guidelines.
- Maintain a clean and sanitary kitchen environment, following health and safety standards
Customer Interaction
- Be comfortable Interacting with guests when necessary, ensuring a positive and friendly
experience.
- Accommodate special requests and dietary needs in a professional manner.
Qualifications
- 1 Year of Culinary Education
- Passion for cooking and creating memorable dining experiences.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation guidelines.
Position is a contract position from May 2024-September 2024
Job Type: Fixed term contract
Contract length: 6 months
Salary: $18.00-$23.00 per hour
