Manager, Telecom Operations (Business Architect)
The Manager of Telecom Operations (Business Architect) is responsible for working cross functionally with the Operations Leadership team to support key initiatives in Acronym's business plan.  Acronym's is focused on the development and launch of new products and services to meet our clients requirements.  This role will also support new technology introductions and new product introductions and be THE representative for Operations on these initiatives.  This person IS the voice for the Operations team, and will be accountable to document existing processes, gather operational requirements and develop new processes to support new services.
General Accountabilities:
-Through collateral relationships with respect to the Vice President Operations and within the context provided by the Vice President Operations (i.e. strategies and policies, accountabilities, tasks, budget and programs, compliance, performance targets, expectations for continuous improvement, etc.), provide the following:
-Support the development and recommend a strategic direction/plan for cost efficient and competitive service delivery and service assurance.  This includes detailed plans on how future years sales growth, technology change, product development, and operational efficiency targets will be supported. The plan will also address how to manage and mitigate technical, market and other risks.
-Develop and recommend revisions, changes, and adaptation to strategies, plans, and program directions to resolve issues that arise in moving toward realization of the Acronym's goals.
-Conduct an in-depth analysis of Telecom industry best practices for Service Delivery and Service Assurance processes, technical practices, and standards. Utilize this intelligence to implement practices that will assure a consistent service quality that  meets Acronym's SLA metrics. Monitor the processes to ensure that they are properly maintained and followed consistently.
-Identify, evaluate, and recommend alternatives to service delivery and service assurance practices, including purchased services, deploying automated monitoring and testing technologies, re-organizing infrastructures, and support systems.
-Support the preparation of annual Capital and Operating expense budgets for the department. Recommend areas where efficiencies can be gained to control costs on an ongoing basis.
-Develop and maintain technical expertise in the fast evolving technology in Telecommunication systems and implement new technology where economically justified.
-Develop, implement, and continuously improve service fulfillment and preventative maintenance processes as they apply to Acronym.
-Support Enterprise Risk and Business Risk planning discussions
-Develop specifications for technical support and service fulfillment processes and ensure that appropriate controls are in place to meet implementation objectives.
-Support other departments to develop infrastructure to carry new telecom services with supportable service quality by providing operational expertise and knowledge.
-Implement reporting systems and analytical models to monitor and assess progress with respect to achievement of strategic plans and related processes.
-Recommend appropriate performance measures and targets related to the achievement of customer service satisfaction.
-Support the Vice President Operations in integrating Corporate strategic goals and initiatives within the business, and in overseeing their consistent application in order to realize the overall Hydro One Inc. objectives and direction.
-Support Acronym's brand within the targeted market as an efficient and competent telecom services provider.
-Establish and manage strategic relationships with business partners, services providers, and vendors.
-Set the appropriate context for subordinates (i.e. Corporate, and Acronym strategies and policies, accountabilities, tasks, budget and programs, compliance and performance targets, expectations for continuous improvement, etc.)
-Set an effective framework of policies and procedures for the work of the division
-Know and ensure own and subordinates compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements and all policies and procedures and generally accepted practices relating to the work of the division
-Establish a two-way working relationship with subordinates to solicit their views of conditions and potential changes affecting their work and continuous improvement opportunities
 
Selection Criteria:
-Bachelors degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Business Analytics, Management Science, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Risk Management, or related curriculums in Project Management or equivalent work experience.
-10 to 15 years work experience in a related Telecom field
-Knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, telecom management systems (ServiceNOW, Remedy, Ericsson Adaptive Inventory etc.), technology (wireless and wireline networking), reporting tools and information repositories
-Knowledge, certifications or industry memberships related to Telecom or Techology Management (ie. ITIL, eTOM, AGILE, tmforum)
-Knowledge, certifications or industry memberships related to Business process development and mapping
-Knowledge and experience relating to continuous improvement methodologies
-Knowledge and experience of Telecom service delivery and service assurance
-Ability to analyze existing touchpoints and identify priorities for improvement
-Ability to work with Agile scrum teams as Product Owner of operational tasks
-Ability and willingness to lead the documentation of processes
-Ability and willingness to run and participate in workshops related to process development
-Exceptional oral and written communication skills
-Ability to communicate vision and purpose
-Ability to influence and motivate people to take action
-Experience and ability to take research and test learnings and apply them to optimize customer strategies and to identify customer channels
-Ability to envision possibilities; experience in balancing risk and proven results to achieve targets
-Strong multi-tasking abilities including experience to manage multiple priorities
