We are seeking a talented Business Credit Analyst to join our Business Banking team for our Real Estate development business. You will work closely with the Relationship Managers; you will help grow the size and profitability of the commercial book while minimizing loan risk and maximizing product penetration. You will also deliver an exceptional member experience by providing timely, accurate, concise, and quality credit applications within sound risk management framework.
What you'll do:
- Working closely with Relationship Managers to identify and gather all required information to prepare commercial and Real Estate project financing applications for credit.
- Complete due diligence and investigation on the information required for commercial credit underwriting.
- Analyze and interpret financial data and project information.
- Analyze and assess collateral.
- Underwrite and analyze credit applications, including annual reviews, make recommendations for new loans, loan renewals and amendments within credit union guidelines and lending policy and procedures.
- Provide creative and flexible solutions in structuring and underwriting commercial credit applications with appropriate supporting commentary.
- Submit commercial lending recommendations to the appropriate approval level.
- Monitor projects being financed to ensure draw down stipulations and loan conditions are met.
- Review each borrower at least annually, coordinating financial information requirements with BRM's and Commercial Services Assistant
- Review reports for the portfolio to identify potential problems and contact member to resolve issues; develop action plan to ensure risk is minimized.
What you bring:
- 3 - 5 years of experience in commercial lending analysis and underwriting, and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience or
- 3 - 5 years of experience in a business banking position with relevant experience in Real Estate Development & project financing underwriting and analysis.
- Excellent Communication and interpersonal skills and a positive attitude.
- Proven Organizational and time management with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Demonstrated underwriting commercial lending skills with the ability to identify, analyze, and mitigate risks therein.
- Understanding of accounting principles and financial statements, including cash flow analysis.
- Knowledge of business lending policies, loan realization and collection process.
- A Team-Oriented Approach with a demonstrated ability to work effectively positively within a team.
