Reports to: Manager, Performance Management & Insights
Purpose of the Role The Senior Business Data Analyst will be responsible for compiling, verifying, and analyzing operational data to provide accurate and timely information to enable data-driven decisions that impact operations nationally. Highly collaborative and strategic in nature, the incumbent will use data-based evidence to build and establish operational capabilities to organize data, establish KPIs, develop and disseminate management reporting, create self-serve analytics dashboards, and proactively generate actionable insights. The incumbent will partner with operational leaders to identify opportunities to enhance employee performance and measure the impact of change across LifeLabs diverse operations.
This is a full time remote role. Preference will be given to candidates based in Ontario.
Core Accountabilities
Reporting, Insight Generation, Opportunity Discovery, and Measurement
-Develop and sustain an operational competency to report and disseminate critical KPIs to Operations leaders, providing them with data-driven insights to inform business decisions
-Design and develop comprehensive reports, self-serve tools and operational health dashboards
-Use data and insights to facilitate effective business management, identifying areas for improvement and opportunities for growth
-Work with Finance to drive budget optimization and minimize budget variances by continuously monitoring financial performance
-Collaborate with subject matter experts for the extraction, cleansing, and analysis of complex information from a variety of databases to independently generate reports and predictive dynamic models
Building Relationship and Collaboration
-Design and collaborate with operations leaders to support and execute continuous improvement plans
-Lead ongoing operations enablement initiatives, keep the business informed of trends, opportunities, and risks
-Actively monitor, identify, and execute initiatives to improve process and create efficiencies as it relates to the execution of daily operational functions
-Accountable for developing and documenting an in-depth understanding of the end-to-end business processes across all operational departments
-Lead data governance initiatives
-Work with cross-functional teams to develop, understand and articulate key elements of an opportunity assessment, and to articulate risks and sensitivities
Data Governance and Change Management
-Facilitate and lead the implementation and execution of data governance processes to ensure data across all operational reports are gathered, standardized, streamlined, and processed according to internal standards
-Provide data governance support cross-functionally with other teams to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency in the data
-Support in crafting change management visions and plans by setting strategic goals, defining KPIs, designate stakeholders and stewards, and outlining scope
-Lead change management initiatives after the delivery of analytical dashboards to help the business adopt, embed, and fully maximize the use of data in every day decision making
Training and Support
-Develop training programs that inform the business on how to transform data into action-oriented information and to use that information correctly
-Assume additional duties as required (include but not limited to develop and maintain BPMNs, SOPs, and coordination with other development teams)
 
Qualifications and Skills
-Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Informatics, Statistics, Engineering or other relevant field, or the equivalent combination of professional experience
-A Master’s degree is an asset
-5+ years’ experience in utilizing advanced data analysis and visualization tools (Power BI, Excel Power Pivots, MS SQL etc.)
-Advanced knowledge and experience in Power BI
-Advanced MS Office skills (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Access, Visio) with demonstrated ability in preparing presentations
-Superb analytical and conceptual thinking skills; to not only manipulate but also derive meaningful interpretations from data into actionable outcomes
-Experience working with various query languages such as SQL, Python, DAX, M Query and using PowerBI to create new datasets based on unique joins required to report or answer specific questions for the business
-Related knowledge of building complex, integral dashboards that create a seamless, world class user experience
-Excellent written and oral communication skills 
-Strong presentation skills, with the ability to clearly convey complex data to non-technical audiences

Hiring Range: $76,800 to $97,900
The hiring range has been established, however, the final salary recommendation will be determined based off the level of experience, education requirement, external market conditions and internal equity. 
In this position, you will be eligible for Lifelabs annual bonus.
