Role Overview:
Woodfield Muskoka is seeking two enthusiastic and experienced Camp Counsellors to join our team for the summer season. The Camp Counsellors will play a vital role in delivering exceptional programming, engaging with families, and maintaining the camp facilities. This is an excellent opportunity for university students or recent graduates with outdoor education or camp experience to gain valuable skills, connect with RMHC families, and live in the beautiful Muskoka region.
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate engaging activities and programs for campers, ensuring a fun and safe experience.
- Incorporate outdoor education principles and wilderness first aid practices into programming.
Family Engagement:
- Interact with campers and families in a positive and welcoming manner, providing assistance and support as needed.
- Foster a sense of community and belonging among campers and families through meaningful interactions and connections.
Cabin Maintenance:
- Clean and maintain cabin accommodations, ensuring cleanliness and comfort for campers and families.
- Assist with changeover between families, preparing cabins for new arrivals and ensuring smooth transitions.
Childcare Support:
- Provide childcare support to parents during designated times, supervising children and ensuring their safety and well-being.
- Assist with organizing and supervising group activities and outings for children.
Property Maintenance:
- Assist with maintaining the camp property and facilities, including groundskeeping, landscaping, and minor repairs.
- Ensure that all areas of the camp are kept clean, organized, and safe for campers and staff.
Qualifications:
- University student or recent graduate with outdoor education or camp experience preferred.
- Previous experience working with children in a camp or childcare setting is an asset.
- Knowledge of wilderness first aid and outdoor education programming is highly desirable.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Must be able to commit to the full duration of the summer season (June - September).
- Valid driver's license is preferred.
- CPR and First Aid certification required (training can be provided).
