Job Title: Clinical Manager

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Clinical Manager manages the staff of various clinical programs and evaluates the ongoing clinical services of the Agency. The Clinical Manager ensures a high quality of therapeutic intervention with clients as well as developing and maintaining a well-trained clinical team.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s degree in social work or a relevant discipline (i.e. psychology, counseling, education)
- Valid membership with the Ontario College of Social Workers or equivalent recognized professional college.
- Minimum 5 years direct clinical work in a children’s mental health setting
- Excellent working knowledge of evidence based/informed therapies/theories/modalities.
- Criminal Reference Check with Vulnerable Sectors Screening
- Valid Class G driver’s license with acceptable driving record and reliable vehicle
SKILLS/ABILITY:
- Excellent working knowledge of evidence based/informed therapies/theories/modalities.
- Excellent analytical, negotiating, consensus building, conflict resolution, and decision-making skills
- Demonstrated ability to take charge, work with minimal supervision and meet deadlines
- Excellent management and supervisory skills
- Demonstrated expertise in the delivery of clinical services
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Management
- Participate in the hiring and training of all assigned staff.
- Supervise and evaluate all assigned staff.
- Assign cases and monitor service levels of assigned staff.
- Through supervision and training, promote the development of strong therapeutic skills.
- Problem solve with the Clinical Director and Executive Director around organizational issues, service issues, community relations and special projects
- Organize and lead clinical team meetings/Quick Access team meetings, focusing on clinical issues as well as on staff development.
- Create and maintain a positive environment which promotes effective teamwork.
- Act as support and back-up to Youth and Family Counsellors/Youth Workers/Intake Coordinator/Crisis Workers/Quick Access workers/School Mental Health Workers/Art Therapist regarding clinical issues and/or crisis situations.
- Attend and support the Day treatment and Live-in treatment team meetings
- Participation on community/regional planning tables
Clinical and Supervision
- Monitor the implementation of treatment plans for each youth and family within the multi-disciplinary team process.
- Maintain consultation schedules for outside consultant(s).
- Lead clinical discussions regarding formulations and treatment plans following assessments.
- As required, work with minimal supervision and direction on assigned cases, within the framework of a treatment team.
Administration
- Document treatment programs and maintain appropriate agency reports on individual and families served.
- Adhere to all Ministry and agency guidelines, policies and procedures regarding treatment programs
- Ensure employees receive regular supervision and evaluations as per policies.
- Monitor and maintain program budget
- Participate in program development, program monitoring and clinical input within all programs.
- Monitor that accurate records are kept and files are up-to-date-monthly quality audits
- Oversee Accreditation Guidelines within designated program(s)
- Provide input into the financial and strategic plans of the agency
- Work with the Human Resources Manager to ensure that personnel files are kept in order and up-to-date while meeting all licensing, accreditation and legislative requirements.
- As a responsible member of the senior management team including collaborative team decision making in the absence of the Clinical Director
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT:
- In conjunction with the Clinical Director, complete a performance evaluation on an annual basis.
- Attend professional development opportunities recommended by the Executive Director/Clinical Director to enhance overall knowledge and performance.
- Attend and participate in regularly scheduled management meetings.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Work is generally performed in the office/from home (hybrid model) and various program settings
- Work hours (9-4:30) are flexible as arranged with the Clinical Director
- On-call between 4:30-8pm Monday-Thursday
- Occasional evening work may be required
- Requirement to drive on occasion
