Clinical Supervisor

About the Position

The Clinical Supervisor’s mission is to supervise and manage the provision of clinical services in accordance with practices that are consistent with the policies and standards of the Centre. As a Leadership team member, your responsibilities will include:

  • Promotes the Centre’s mission, vision and values and ensures that services to the clients within the programs are consistent with the Centre’s treatment philosophy and ethical standards.
  • Ensures that assessment, treatment, and planning for the clients of the Centre are carried out.
  • Consults with the Executive Director and senior management staff regarding the development and implementation of treatment.
  • Coaches, supervises, directs, disciplines and evaluates the clinicians, and ensures the coaching, supervision, direction, discipline and performance appraisal of the clinical team, including maintenance of all documentation.
  • Provides clinical leadership for assigned programs (Live-in Treatment, Day Treatment and Community): problem solving, addressing issues, and leading the clinical team in developing and delivering quality programs.
  • Ensures service delivery within the treatment philosophy supporting sustainable staff training, quality assurance and data collection.
  • Engages in community planning as requested by the Executive Director.
  • Collaborates with the Managers of Live-in Treatment Programs to ensure that all treatment provided is clinically driven and trauma-informed.
  • Ensure supervision for the clinical staff according to standards ensuring that all programs are delivered consistent with organization’s standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Identifies and arranges training opportunities for all assigned staff to maintain and/or update their skills.
  • As required and on a needs basis, provide direct clinical services to Centre clients including clinical assessment services; individual therapy; attendance at case conferences; the provision of group services and consultation to professionals.
  • Acts as liaison person with the Universities who partner with the Centre to provide clinical practicum placements.
  • Develops and maintains a constructive professional relationship with coordinators, consultants, administration, volunteers, and the staff of the Roberts/Smart Centre and other agencies.
  • Attends Ottawa Children's Coordinated Access And Referral To Services (OCCARS), and other related admissions committees and case conferences as required.
  • Ensures that own work meets all quality assurance standards for the agency and relevant professional associations.
  • Supports statistical reporting requirements within established timeframes.
  • Seeks opportunities to support the Centre’s proactive engagement in public education concerning youth mental health and youth justice.
  • Recognizes the uniqueness of this position and the necessity for developing a knowledge base relevant to the individual needs of the population served by the Centre.
  • Performs these and other duties as assigned in a manner consistent with the rules of professional ethics and conduct.

Our Ideal Candidate
The right person for this job will be a compassionate leader and team player with a dedication for youth mental health who can demonstrate that they have:

  • Completion of a relevant professional degree at the Master’s level, with a minimum of three (3) years’ experience in children’s mental health or related areas.
  • Knowledge of clinical services, mental health and management strategies for intervening with youth struggling with complex mental health and behavioural challenges and their families; youth in Live-in Treatment Programs, and community and or crisis intervention modalities.
  • Demonstrated capacity for leadership within the discipline and within a multi-disciplinary environment.
  • Knowledge and demonstrated superior performance in program development, management concepts and practices, staff coaching and mentoring, supervision, and performance appraisal and interviewing, organizational skills with an aptitude for leadership, problem solving and decision making; and working with community resources.
  • Fully Bilingual in English and French
  • Registration to practice Psychotherapy and experience delivering treatment to youth with multiple and complex mental health and behavioural diagnoses.
