Supervisor of Clinical Services

Reporting to the Manager of Mental Health and Well-Being, the Supervisor of Clinical Services is responsible for a growing team, providing individual clinical supervision, participating in peer consultation teams, developing department policies and procedures, and overseeing case and file management. The Supervisor of Clinical Services will support the Child and Youth Worker team and be committed to leading an effective model of school social work service delivery that aligns with the Board’s Mental Health and Well-Being Strategy. The Supervisor of Clinical Services will ensure that services offered by the department are evidence-based and adhere to the best practices in school mental health, to meet the diverse need of the Niagara Region.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT:

  • Lead and assist the development and implementation of social work standards of practice;
  • Develop and ensure consistency of service model delivery and adherence to best practices;
  • Support and provide clinical supervision to mental health staff providing clinical therapy;
  • Provide strategic guidance to school staff in crisis situations including deaths and traumatic events with the Manager of Mental Health and Well-Being;
  • Develop, implement, monitor, and evaluate social work/regulated mental health professionals strategies;
  • Manage and maintain the social work services electronic records database, EMHware; including reporting statistics;
  • Oversee the professional learning of social work staff, including organizing staff meetings and professional development opportunities for the social work team;
  • Oversee the Child and Youth Worker Team, including outlining job roles and expectations, assessing and providing evidence-informed programs, performance appraisals, professional development opportunities and day to day consultation regarding the role;
  • Provide performance appraisals for Social Work and Child and Youth Worker teams;
  • Assist in the submission of reports to the Ministry as required through the year on project activities and findings;
  • Receive, triage and review mental health referrals sent to Social Work Staff;
  • Oversee all referrals for all schools, including accepting and denying referrals and providing alternative options to schools for services in a time-sensitive manner;
  • Update and assess Social Work processes, referral forms and structure;
  • Work with Manager of Mental Health and Well-Being to assess day treatment referrals, and attend intake meetings with community;
  • Assist with selection of and Implementation of Evidence-informed treatment programs and standards for Social Workers;
  • Implement GreenSpace Measures: meet regularly with programmers and team to assess, monitor and review measures;
  • Provide short term coverage for absent Social Workers;
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders including attending provincial meetings for Lead Social Workers/Chief Social Workers/Clinical Leads;
  • Provide Consultation to Alternative Learning sites one day per week, on site;
  • Other role-related projects and/or responsibilities, as required.

WHAT YOU BRING:

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work, Clinical/School Psychology, Clinical Psychology or equivalent;
  • A minimum of five to seven years of social work experience working with children and youth, mental health promotion, prevention, intervention, crisis and system navigation. Experience in an educational environment is preferred;
  • A minimum of two years of direct experience supervising staff will be considered an asset;
  • A Regulated Health Professional and registered member in good standing of a related professional regulatory body in Ontario (College of Psychotherapists, Psychologists or Social Work);
  • Demonstrated ability to provide clinical supervision and coaching to promote social work interventions, good outcomes for students and support staff in navigating matters related to service and/or clinical issues;
  • Demonstrated skill and leadership in suicide and violent threat risk assessment and management;
  • Demonstrated leadership with transference of knowledge and building the capacity of professional services;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of service delivery approaches rooted in intersectionality, anti-racist and anti-oppressive practice that nurture safe(r)spaces, cultural humility, and inclusivity;
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and work effectively within an interdisciplinary team in various departments;
  • Knowledge of the significant mental health issues of youth/adolescents and knowledge of evidence informed treatments;
  • Ability to develop and expand successful collaborations and partnerships with internal and external stakeholders;
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, regulatory requirements and governing acts related to privacy, confidentiality, professional practice, mental health and education;
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills. Effective communication, interpersonal, presentation and report writing skills;
  • Ability to work in a unionized environment;
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to maintain up to date and accurate documentation, in accordance with professional standards, mental health act and PHIPA.

This is a full-time permanent position.

HOURS: 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday

LOCATION: Catholic Education Centre, Welland, ON with travel between all Niagara Catholic schools and sites

SALARY :$113,064.20 - $116,700.13 per annum
