Collection Assistant (Summer Full-Time) – Posting #2024-32
Location: Lennox and Addington County Museum and Archives, Napanee, Ontario
Supervisor: Supervisor Museum & Curator
Hours of Work: 9:00 am to 5:00 pm (35 hours per week, weekends and evenings as required)
Rate of Pay: $19.18 per hour
Duration: May 13, 2024 to August 30, 2024
Closing Date: April 4, 2024
The County of Lennox & Addington requires a Collection Assistant to help our Museum inventory their musical instrument collection. The position will assist with the many facets of a working museum including care and handling, conservation, storage, exhibition, and research.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Inventory the musical instrument collection
- Assist with the preparation of objects to be handled, photographed, packaged, re-shelved in storage, cite condition reports, and data entry for Past Perfect Online
- Research and update relevant information to the database entries not previously included from the accession file
- Provide support to the Curator for other collection needs as they arise with project progression and make recommendations as needed
- Be very organized and task oriented, this position requires a significant amount of solitude and concentration through the day
- Satisfactory attendance record, subject to the requirements of the Ontario Human Rights Code
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum Post-Secondary education in related Museums Studies discipline (either in progress and returning to school in the Fall, between the ages of 16-30)
- Demonstrated familiarity with computer software – Past Perfect and Microsoft Suite
- Demonstrated ability to work with photographic equipment and other graphic technology
- Current CPIC required
- This position is dependent on funding from Young Canada Works.
