New Leaf is a not-for-profit social service agency located north of Newmarket, providing residential and day supports to adults with developmental disabilities. New Leaf’s mission is to embrace the values of personal choice, dignity, social inclusion and self-actualization in all of our services and supports as we assist individuals to live and work as valued members of society and the community. We endeavor to provide quality supports and services that offer a rural option to individuals with intellectual disability, dual-diagnosis, and/or other complex needs.
We have summer contract positions available for a Communication Student to develop a basic stakeholder communication plan and support the leadership team at the New Leaf Administrative building located in Queensville, Ontario.
Responsibilities
· Supports planning and implementation of new social media platforms
· Supports process of reviewing and updating website
· Creates guidelines for writing, editing and reviewing social media posts
· Supports implementation of new brand guidelines
· Assists with writing and editing a range of branded print and electronic communications including, but not limited to – orientation manual; policies & procedures; pamphlets; info graphics, etc.
· Maintains confidentiality of clients
Education and Experience
· Post-secondary Student - completion of at least 2nd year college or university in communications related field (communications; public relations; marketing; etc.)
· Minimum of 1 year of related (paid or volunteer) experience is preferred, including experience in a general office environment or customer service setting
Knowledge
· Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and /or other word processing & spreadsheet applications desirable;
· Excellent proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator)
· Knowledge of social media platforms and the ability to tailor content to each platform as required
· Experience with photography, photo editing would be an asset.
· Knowledge of photocopying, digital printing and offset printing as well as pre-press set-up.
· Knowledge of services for individuals with developmental disabilities or the non-profit sector.
Competencies, Skills and Abilities
· Strong written communication and collaboration skills.
· Ability to work independently with supervision
· Excellent interpersonal, communication and customer service skill required.
· Dependable in his/her ability to meet deadlines and manage conflicting priorities
· A valid driver’s license
· Able to provide a vulnerable person’s police check
