Overview:
The Communications Coordinator will be responsible for the development of a Communication Plan incorporating various forms of communication to assist with effective and efficient delivery of information to various audiences (Wei Wai Kum Members, Community Members, Administrative staff, media, other external parties). The Communications Coordinator will be responsible for writing and editing various content on the Wei Wai Kum website, social media groups, newsletters, media releases and all other forms of communication required to reach relevant parties. The Communications Coordinator will be responsible for drafting, editing and publishing communications from Chief and Council, the Senior Manager of Operations and Administrative staff to appropriate recipients.
Responsibilities:
- Acts as a resource to the Senior Manager of Operations and all departments regarding the development of internal and external communications
- Provides communications support to Chief and Council through press releases, communiqués and other such written materials and media presentations.
- Create a Communication Plan including all acceptable forms of communication and approval processes for publishing communications
- Create timely and appealing content for website, social media, newsletters, and other communication platforms.
- Acts as a navigator for community members needing assistance with finding information they need and in navigating various communication platforms.
- Develops a work plan and prioritizes on going tasks
- Create and oversee annual budgets, complete reporting as required for all funding agencies, Council and Senior staff.
- Prepare information to share at community meetings and events.
- Attend community meetings and events to gather and share information that is relevant to the Members and as requested by Chief and Council and administrative staff.
- Assist with creation of information packages and pamphlet for Members
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Completing of post secondary Communications or Digital Marketing certificate/ diploma, or a combination of education and 2-3 years of relevant experience
- Proven experience in project management techniques to meet deadlines, manage resources, and meet reporting requirements.
- Digital design and marketing education or experience
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Office, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) and internet applications
- Strong written and verbal communication are essential as is the ability to work in a collaborative and cultural and politically sensitive environment.

Terms & Conditions:
Hours of work: 35 hours per week, 8:30am to 4:00pm Monday to Friday

Salary: $49,140.00-$59,205.00 per year
