The Community Engagement and Research Specialist is responsible for developing and implementing a Community Engagement plan to support the development of culturally appropriate and comprehensive programs and services within Kanawemahwasowin Kamik Inc. The CERS will develop and lead Community Engagement strategies, utilizing community sessions, talking circles/focus groups, conducting interviews, and gathering information as needed to ensure the community voice is well represented. This position will also support the law development lead and the law development working group as needed. The CERS will utilize qualitative research skills to formulate meaningful data from the information gathered, prepare a comprehensive summary report, and conduct additional research to support the development of a comprehensive program and service delivery.

● Develop a Community Engagement plan.

● Develop a comprehensive work plan that includes Community Engagement strategies.

● Work with the KKI team to ensure that all necessary information supporting successful Community Engagement is disseminated in the community and externally as needed.

● Work with the communications team to develop creative community awareness flyers, posters, etc.

● Communicate all event information to the digital storytelling team and be the point of contact.

● Utilize qualitative research skills to ensure meaningful information is extracted from the Community Engagement and information gathering.

● Identify and work with Cree translators as needed. Work with the cultural team as needed.

● Utilize research skills to support the development of quality KKI programs and services.

● Work closely with the law development lead and the law development working group as needed.

● Work closely with KKI program managers and leads.

● Schedule and arrange well-coordinated Engagement and information sessions for Ermineskin Cree Nation Elders, general citizens, and youth, both on and off-reserve

● Work closely and collaboratively with internal and external partners.

● Build and maintain positive and lasting relationships with the Ermineskin Cree Nation community and stakeholders through active engagement

● Track and document all Community Engagement activities for reporting purposes and follow-up.

● Create comprehensive monthly reports and a final report.

● Monitor expenses and make necessary adjustments to stay within budget.

● Manage highly sensitive and confidential information in compliance with guidelines

● Ensure that all activities and plans are aligned with Ermineskin Cree Nation values.

Education and Experience:

  • Post-secondary diploma or degree
  • Five (5) years experience in qualitative research including comprehensive Community Engagement
  • Valid drivers license and own vehicle is essential.
  • Successful completion of Criminal Record Check (including Vulnerable Sector Screening).
  • Successful completion of Child Intervention Check.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $70,000.00-$80,000.00 per year
