Contract Field Operator – (Drayton Valley)

Primary Purpose of Position
Reporting to the Area Foreman, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operations and maintenance activities for your assigned field production facility and wells. You will be responsible for various tasks as outlined below with a schedule of 8 days on, 6 days off, 10 hours per day. This position is in the Drayton Valley operating center.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Maintain reliable, safe, and efficient day-to-day operations of wells and production facilities while complying with Sinopec’s safety procedures.
- Responsible for ensuring that all operations comply with applicable regulations and meet and exceed all government and industry standards.
- Optimizing and troubleshooting plant, field, and gathering systems.
- Test and monitor gas and oil wells using correct procedures.
- Conducting daily, weekly, and monthly plant/field checks.
- Input accurate production information into field data capture system and verify inputs (Prodview).
- Monitor equipment and ensure maintenance frequencies are complied with.
- Working with pump jacks, associated compressors, testing facilities, and batteries
- Maximize production and ensure the reliability of producing wells and performing tests as required.
- Support MOC process on projects.
- The ability to work on a rotational shift and can take callouts.
- Control process start-up, shut down, and troubleshooting.
- Adjust valves, pumps, controls, and process equipment.
- Identify equipment failures and take corrective action to restore operations.
- Record required data from meter and instrumentation.
- Monitor equipment and identify maintenance requirements.
- Take a lead role in promoting safe work practices and follow Health, Safety & Environment policies, and procedures.
- Complete core safety training requirements and completion of site-specific safety competencies.
- Act as the backup safety or rescue person when required.
- Documentation is necessary to manage the safety, OPEX, and compliance duties associated with the position.
- Code invoices.
- Work closely with Lead Operator, assisting with the coordination of projects and resolving concerns.
Position Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
- Experience working with new start-ups, downhole/completions, process troubleshooting, and well optimizing is preferred.
- Mechanically inclined with a safety mindset.
- Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and commitment to adhere to work safety policies and procedures.
- Experience using Microsoft Office as well as Prodview.
- Knowledge of SCADA systems would be an asset.
- Willingness to support the reporting documentation requirements necessary to manage the safety, OPEX, and compliance duties associated with the position.
- Possess strong communication skills with internal and external stakeholders but also have the autonomy to work independently.
- Detail-oriented, strong organizational skills, and able to establish goals and objectives within designated time frames.
- Ability to problem-solve and effectively identify issues to develop and implement solutions for resolution.
- Ability to work independently, as well as demonstrated ability to work well in a team, having a solution-focused mindset with strong collaboration and communication skills.

- Demonstrated ability to understand and operate effectively in a diverse and multi-cultural environment.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED equivalent.
- 5-8 years of experience in a sour/sweet plant/field experience is required. Sour gas experience preferred.
- Up to date certification in TDG, H2S, WHMIS, First Aid, and other applicable safety tickets.
- Physical capabilities include lifting or carrying > 40lbs, standing or walking for sustained periods and sitting/driving for longer periods.
- Hold a valid and clean Alberta Class 5 Driver's License.
- Must be legally eligible to work and reside in Canada.
