About the role:
We're actively seeking a dynamic and seasoned Controller to join our ranks. This pivotal role demands a comprehensive grasp of financial management, spanning reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and regulatory compliance. We're on the lookout for a candidate who not only possesses strong leadership acumen and analytical finesse but also boasts a proven track record of orchestrating financial triumphs.
As an integral part of our Leadership Team, the Controller reports to the CEO and COO. In this influential capacity, they play a central role in shaping budgets and meticulously monitoring the financial pulse of every department within Chinova Bioworks. With a sharp eye for performance trends, the Controller catalyzes strategic insights, delivering actionable recommendations to drive the company's continued success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead accurate and timely preparation of comprehensive financial reports, detailing income, expenses, and earnings across past, present, and future operations
- Oversee company's financial affairs, ensuring compliance with financial principles and government regulations
- Develop precise budgets, financial forecasts, and 5-year business plans to guide strategic decision-making
- Prepare insightful financial analyses of operations to provide management with actionable insights
- Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
- Collaborate closely with the Executive Team and Board of Directors, proposing inventive enhancements to policies and programs to cultivate a culture of continuous improvement
- Direct activities for safekeeping, control, and accounting of assets and securities
- Execute any additional duties as necessary to contribute to the finance department's efficiency and overall organizational success
Requirements:
- CPA designation
- 3-5 years of progressive experience in senior accounting or finance roles
- Profound understanding of Canadian GAAP and compliance with financial reporting standards
- Proficiency in financial management software such as Dext and Xero
- Demonstrated expertise in financial analysis, reporting, revenue recognition, corporate taxes, external audits, and development of internal controls
- Track record in strategic planning and implementation, including budget preparation
- Proven ability to execute successful financial strategies
- Demonstrates diligence, analytical acumen, and exceptional organization and time-management skills
- Collaborative team player with a positive demeanor
- Innate problem-solving abilities with meticulous attention to detail; proactive and self-confident
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Experience in managing and coaching financial teams
