The Position:
The Academy for Student Athlete Development (ASAD) is an innovative program designed to provide targeted athletic, academic, and psychosocial support in a high-performance daily training environment to student athletes in grades 9-12, as they strive to achieve success at provincial, national, and international levels of competition. ASAD provides one of the most unique and inclusive models to support student athletes on able-bodied, parasport and Special Olympic performance pathways.
Reporting to the Senior Manager, ASAD Programs, the ASAD Graphic Designer and Content Creator will make meaningful contribution to content development that supports the ASAD Program marketing and promotion initiatives.
Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ) Eligibility:
- Between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment;
- Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment*;
- Valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and legally entitled to work in Canada.
- International students are not eligible. International students include anyone who is temporarily in Canada for studies and who is not a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person who has been granted refugee status in Canada. Youth awaiting a refugee status ruling, as well as those who hold a temporary visitor visa, youth visa or work visa are ineligible. As the objective of the Canada Summer Jobs program is to support youth entering the Canadian labour market, the temporary nature of an international student’s time in Canada does not allow for a long-term connection to the labour market.
- Create visual design pieces for ASAD promotions and marketing (print materials, presentations, videos, online graphics, etc.) while maintaining consistent brand, image and tone-of-voice
- Attend ASAD program to capture photos and videos
- Ensure brand consistency throughout all visual communication, expressing ASAD’s mission and goals through identifiable voice and aesthetic
- Ensure accessibility requirements are met in the creation and promotion of all marketing assets
- Liase with Abilities Centre Marketing team
- Monitor market trends, research consumer markets and competitor’s activities to identify opportunities
- Assist with establishing and maintaining ASAD content schedule for social media platforms and website
- Other related duties as assigned
- University or college program in Marketing, Communications, Graphic Design, Public Relations, Journalism, or related
- Knowledge of accessibility and accommodation issues an asset
- Proficient in use of Microsoft Office and Adobe products. PowerPoint, InDesign, Premiere Pro, Photoshop, and Illustrator.
- Social media enthusiast. Extensive knowledge in all social media channels
- Excellent communication skills
- Hard working, open to feedback, able to handle multiple projects and tasks simultaneously, and likes to enjoy their work
- Strong interpersonal skills with a customer service focus
- Ability to function equally well independently and as part of an effective team
- Required: Current, clear criminal record check for the vulnerable sector
- First Aid / CPR certification an asset
