Support Staff Full-time Revised Replacement Position

The Digital Media Coordinator is responsible for monitoring and contributing to social media channels managed by the Corporate Communications department to ensure accurate, timely and engaging content consistent with Conestoga’s vision, corporate voice, key messages, and strategic priorities. The incumbent will work closely with individuals and departments across the Conestoga community to develop Digital Media content and respond to inquiries from internal and external audiences.

Successful candidates will be required to conduct work within Ontario and must be available to work on campus as required. It is anticipated that this position will meet the needs of the department through a hybrid work arrangement with three days on-site, and two days remote.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, curate, develop, edit, and disseminate engaging content/copy for the various social media channels managed by Corporate Communications to promote stakeholder engagement and involvement with Conestoga events, activities, and programs
  • Manage content planning and calendar; source and create content based on social media strategy; generate, edit, publish, and share daily content (original text, images, or video) that builds relationships with various stakeholder groups
  • Proactively engage and collaborate with Conestoga employees across various departments to solicit and access information and provide support for the development and dissemination of coordinated messaging
  • Coordinate digital communication campaigns
  • Provide the voice of the college through timely, professional, and accurate responses to comments and questions
  • Remain up to date with the latest Digital Media trends and design technology to identify opportunities to promote Conestoga and build positive relationships with stakeholder groups
  • Basic photography and videography to support event coverage and communication
  • Ensure all Digital Media content is fully accessible (AODA compliant) and complies with copyright regulations
  • Create consistent, accurate and timely event postings for the main corporate calendar and associated calendars on the Conestoga website
  • Manage event submissions and submission mechanisms (i.e., Microsoft Forms)
  • Highlight key events on the website homepage and promote through other digital channels, including social media
  • Work in collaboration with Corporate Communications and Web Services teams to support and assist with posting content to the college website
  • Collaborate on the development and implementation of a social media strategy that builds brand awareness and positive relationships with stakeholder groups
  • Collaborate on the development and implementation of user guidelines, tools, and best practices for effective use of social media in support of Conestoga strategic priorities and directions
  • Monitor engagement, insights, and performance of Digital Media activities and provide reports and subsequent data-driven recommendations
  • Evaluate Digital Media initiatives, refresh delivery methods, and work to enhance resources
  • Manage social media email inboxes and provide timely and accurate responses to inquiries
  • Manage Hootsuite Enterprise account and onboard Conestoga departments and teams
  • Provide ongoing monitoring of Digital Media activity associated with Conestoga to identify potential issues that may impact the college’s brand and ensure relevant internal stakeholders are engaged and appropriate, timely response mechanisms are used
  • Provide administrative and research support for communication projects, activities, and initiatives
  • Propose story ideas for internal and external distribution; contribute to the development of news releases, feature articles, marketing, and related communications materials
  • Attend community activities and events

Qualifications:

  • Three-year Diploma or Degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field
  • Three years of relevant practical experience in corporate communications, media relations or journalism as well as demonstrated work experience creating and disseminating digital content and utilizing Digital Media strategies
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills, with demonstrated experience writing and editing news, web, social media, and marketing content
  • Experience creating and posting digital content; knowledge of web posting tools, or willingness to learn
  • Attention to detail, commitment to quality and the delivery of outstanding client service
  • Demonstrated experience exercising judgement, diplomacy, and tact with dealing with confidential or sensitive issues
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate positively and effectively with a variety of internal and external audiences
  • Fluent in Digital Media techniques and knowledge of latest trends; strong familiarity with Digital Media tools, including Hootsuite, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn, Instagram, etc., and emerging tools, including Threads
  • Self-disciplined with the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • Proven organizational, multi-tasking, and time management skills
  • Experience using and interpreting social media analytical tools
  • Photography/video skills and knowledge of design and editing programs an asset
