What is the opportunity?
The role forms a key part of the senior Wealth Management Europe Finance team and is responsible for areas relating both to the integrity of the general ledger as well as those of Financial and Regulatory Reporting across multiple entities in the Wealth Management segment.
This role will be focused on GAM UK and RBC BlueBay and will report directly to the CFO, Wealth Management Europe.
The position will be responsible for developing and maintaining the control environment, accounting practices and procedures to ensure effective risk mitigation, as well as accurate and meaningful financial reports are delivered in a timely manner. The role is across LOBs and requires supporting a range of stakeholders.
This position involves tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities including month end processes and reviews, ensuring key reconciliations are produced and appropriate attestations are completed, as well as act as the key point of contact for external auditors. The role will be responsible for working with senior business and functional partners where issues are identified to ensure appropriate action plans are implemented and managed effectively.
In this role you will act as a key partner to the Europe CFO, platform Financial Control teams as well as business leaders in providing financial information and advice in the support of the business strategy.
What will you do?
The Director of Financial Control and Reporting works on a self-sufficient & autonomous basis
Responsible for producing and presenting Board level material
Responsible for ensuring delivery of statutory financial statements and management of external and internal audits
Ensure strong knowledge of all aspects of Regulatory Reporting including ICAAP reporting and FCA returns
Review month-end close processes which includes monitoring of controls and accounts, processing journals, analytical review etc.
Constant improvement of processes to ensure that Control and Reporting risks are mitigated.
Assessing the impact of new accounting standards in multiple jurisdictions Ensuring the team have the correct systems to support the business including keeping up to date with industry trends from a technology perspective
Ensuring Finance policies are clearly understood across the group and are observed
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have
Senior financial and management experience with post qualification experience, prior financial services and asset management experience
Strong understanding of Financial Statements, exposure to IFRS and technical accounting skills
A detailed understanding of accounting standards and a proven track record of solving detailed accounting issues.
Experience of fixed income credit products, gained in an investment banking, hedge fund, asset management or audit environment preferred, theoretical understanding required
Experience managing internal / external audit engagements
Big 4 accounting experience (audit)
Professionally qualified accountant
Ability to prepare and execute compelling presentations to senior leaders.
Nice-to-have
Financial systems knowledge (TM1 Cognos etc.)
Experience leading finance system transformations
Prior experience working in asset management
