Responsibilities:
Reporting to the President, the ideal candidate will have experience as an accountant in the agriculture industry, preferably in a senior role. As a strong communicator, this person will oversee all aspects of financial management for the 8 related companies, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
- Develop and implement financial policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulations and best practices
- Monitor cash flow, accounts payable, and accounts receivable to ensure timely payments and collections. Manage ongoing relationship with Avonbank’s banking partner.
- Conduct regular account analysis to identify variances and discrepancies
- Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements
- Manage the month-end close including processing of adjusting entries regarding wage allocations, inventory release, accrual adjustments, inter-company adjustments, etc. in the company's ERP system, Spire.
- Coordinate with external accountants for review engagement financial statement preparation and tax filings
- Provide financial analysis and recommendations to support strategic decision-making
Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. CPA designation is highly preferred.
- Proven experience as a Financial Controller or similar role, preferably within the agriculture or related industries.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices
- Proficiency in Excel and ERP systems. Experience with Spire’s business management solution a plus.
- Proven experience in financial planning, analysis, and reporting.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent leadership and communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization.
